Thanks for sharing @KMac151993. My wife's niece passed away from DIPG when she was 8. She would be a JR in high school this year. The same HS that I now teach and coach football at. It was extremely hard on her and her family and still is during the holidays and around the time of her birthday. My wife and I have 2 daughters, age 3 and 2 (our oldest is named after our niece). I really can't imagine nor fathom what my wife and her family went through. We were just at the Defeat DIPG Gala a couple of weeks ago and they gave an overview of how research and treatment have been improving for this terrible cancer. There has been some recent positive breakthroughs in regards to treatment and clinical testing, thank God. Like CJ, there are times where my wife is reminded of funny memories of her niece when our daughters do something silly or laugh.

Really pulling for CJ to succeed more than ever now.

Thanks for sharing that.

I don't become a mess anymore about kids, but I will never, ever watch John Q again. I didn't even realize what came out of me during that movie was in there.
My only son was in elementary school when Sandy Hook happened and it changed/reframed the way I parented. A lot of things (like sports) I thought were a priority, were not. Terrible things can spur amazing growth, and that really fucking sucks.

I have big picture thoughts about child cancer that I'll keep to myself, other than to say... I will never be convinced it is necessary, there are lots of ways to teach lessons that do not involve children suffering.

Can’t decide if I should read or not. I already carry so much fear of what to could happen to my son at being 10 months and already dealt with enough for a lifetime.
Its an amazing read and I have tears rolling down my face at work. Had to close the door to my office. God bless the Carr family and Chad... and Tootie☘️ Thank you KMac!

CJ should have a big game tomorrow. Hoping he dominates early such that we can get the backup fellas in there. Maybe a 4th quarter where keep CJ out there but throwing to next years WRs.

Final regular season stats:

195/293 (66.5%), 2741 yards, 27 TD (3 rush), 6 INT

Plenty of developing left to do, but a solid debut season.
Impressive stats for a freshman on the field, 1 int. every 2 games. Best passing QB since Clausen.

He had a great year but there’s def room for improvement I wanna see how he looks against an Ohio State defense or Georgia or Bama.
1000% but you have to love the demeanor and calm leadership from a first year starter especially when none of us knew what we were in store for. I’m so glad he is our leader and is Irish☘️

Obviously my expectations for him were ridiculously high and unfair, but I was a little disappointed in his season. That's a me problem though.
Still really excited for the growth and look forward to seeing just how good he gets.

It’s hard to shine as a star QB when you possess the backfield we do. He made mistakes as he should as a first year guy. He will learn and will be our leader.

Out of curiosity, was your disappointment in the hard #s or how he looked?

His completion % was a little low for what I expected, but I thought he was way ahead of schedule at the line of scrimmage.

I understand how crazy I sound being disappointed in the best passing season we've seen around here in a very long time.

He was impressive at the line, setting protections and changing the plays. There were stretches where he was just off. The accuracy abandoned him in a few games and the forced red zone interceptions.

I'm still sky high on him and expect him to take great strides in year two. If he stays 4-5 years, possibly transform us into a pass first offense.

I think he has earned the right to not have a screen called as a safe bail out the rest of the year..I like screens....I don't like them when you act like there's nothing else available.

There's gotta be something available to press the ball down the field. Granted maybe they don't trust interior pass protection.
