Are you saying you will not be shattered or are you just talking shit? The term bed wetter was coined on here by dudes who were smug about ND getting in no matter what, not because those dudes are level headed.
I mean, it would suck but I've had worse things happen to me in my life. Sports is a form of entertainment and escape for me. But regardless of how I feel, I don't waste a lot of time worrying about potentially negative situations that I cannot control the outcome of. If I worry now about the worst happening and then it does happen, I have suffered twice. I try to live a life of pronoia.

“Bedwetter” is an appropriate but overused term for someone freaking out on the game day thread when we don’t string together 15 touchdown drives in a row.

It kind of misses the point of what people are talking about here. Things are genuinely out of “our (by which I mean ND’s) control at this point other than stomping Stanford, which is a necessary but not necessarily sufficient step.

E. Like I think it got thrown out when people were worried about Pitt in the first quarter of that game. The people saying Pitt looked like they were about to get curb stomped were 100% correct.

I won't speak for everyone, but I'm probably in the "bedwetter" category according to "real men" like Bane. But it's not like I'm stressed or fretting over the possibilities. It's more intrigue and entertainment and increased engagement because of all the nuances. Isn't that why most of us are here? Or are some of you here for an ND circle jerk?

Am I the only one that is "over it" with the playoff debates? I would love to be in, but I am exhausted at this point.
I’d love to be in and if we beat Stanford the way we should I think we should be in. If we don’t beat Stanford the way we should or even if we do & the committee goes with Miami over us based off of the head to head and our bad start to the season. I can’t really complain about it. We don’t blow one of those games and we would be in but the slow start to the season coming back to bite us shouldn’t be unfathomable.

The reason I don't give as much of a shit as I probably should is that and would've clearly been "out" in the old playoff system and everyone with two losses has some sort of pro/con argument for inclusion. We are giving charity spots to teams like Tulane or UVA or whoever it's just not a serious system.

If we miss an opportunity at a national championship that will suck, because I think this team is borderline elite right now, but the whole thing with this mega conferences sucks and it's not getting any better for the foreseeable future. We're going to get 5 SEC teams in a 12 team playoff when this is probably the top-to-bottom WORST they have ever been. Whole thing just kinda sucks.

I think you’re tired of it because you’ve been arguing with BYU fans on twitter for the past month.

Look fellas. Game starts in 5 hours. We’ve all had ALOT to drink. All this fighting makes me very sad so can we all agree to be nice to one another, try our best, and most importantly… have fun?

Oh and drink a lot more. Like piss the wife off drunk where you wake up the next morning and know something went south but you can’t seem to remember what exactly went south. Accepting the silence and the ignoring as you see each other in passing in the kitchen kind of drunk. Bits and pieces of the puzzle hit you as the hours pass by until early evening when the Mrs tells you exactly what you did wrong and all you can do is cower and accept your fate.

That kind of drunk.

If not I’m going to bed just so I can wet it.

I think ND needs to focus on beating Stanford tonight before we start worrying about playoff scenarios.
Agreed. Hopefully they are. I know I’m the eternal worrier but no game is guaranteed and this is Stanford’s Super Bowl. They along with the ACC would love it if the embarrassed us with this upset keeping us out of the playoffs regardless of what else goes on.

I’m sorry, but SEC has gotten their asses beat quite a bit this year by teams outside conference. They still think they deserve 5 teams wtf!
They are 10-4 against P4 out of conference. ...ND beat Arkansas, FSU beat Bama and Miami beat UF and OSU beat UT. Not sure who the 10 wins are, as I haven't been able to figure it out as easily.

Fair. I just want the loonies who said 10-2 were 100% in to come in and take their medicine.

Pronoia?

I guess I’m not worried about Stanford because it’s so obvious what happens if we lose, not because I don’t think it’s possible we do.

For me, the fun of figuring out what helps us and what fucks us is it gives me a guide for watching two days of games I otherwise couldn’t care less about.

I guess it would be nice if none of it mattered and ND was win and in, but if there’s a chance we get left out-and I think there is-I’d prefer to understand how the different scenarios might play out.

Pretty much.

I find this all a bit comical. Fans and pundits bitched about ranking without head to head to choose a champ, so we introduce the championship. Then another level of bitching expanded it to 4, now 12. We are quickly heading to 16.

Did the new additions solve anything?

I’ve long blamed NFL fans turning our game into NFL lite. I think they finally have. Some would say for the better. Not me, give me my bowl system back. Fuck the playoffs, they’ve fixed nothing. Just lined someone’s pocket while pretending to solve a problem.

Expanding the field let us make the nation championship game last year and gives us a chance this year so it’s the greatest change in the history of sports.

The problem with opening it will always be well this team left looking in. You will never make everyone happy. They just have to put their foot down and decide what that number will be.
That’s the reply, but I believe when you get down to those lower 13 to 16 spots, there is much less passion and frustration and those crying about being left out are, for example, a 9-3 Texas who lost 35-10 to GA compared to maybe a 10-2 Utah team. Really doesn’t compare to the Miami/ND scenario IMO. A lot less drama. And there’s no reason for a bye week for any teams. Of course, there’s a point where the field would become too big and too much. I don’t think we’re there yet and this season supports that thought.
