Definitely the second play. That spin move might've gotten him.

Get well King!
I would suppose he wouldn’t have played the second play if it had happened on the first play. Too much explosion off the line for him not to have known anything was wrong. You sort of see him plant awkwardly as he completes his inside spin.

Yea, coming out of that spin he was off kilter and then the push didn't help. It could even be a scenario where he "tweaked" it on the first play and tore it on the second

Time will tell on that one. An argument could be made that KVA is the second best player on defense.
You could clearly see the drop off on the Dline in the run game against Penn State and Ohio State. We were getting pushed around all over the place in the middle after we lost Mills.

So it isn't an ACL tear? This is more a question about next season obviously.

FYI to those who don’t think KVA is a key loss….

Pro Football Focus gave him an 87.2 grade, ranking fourth in all of college football among Power 4 linebackers. In the first 10 games, he totaled 46 tackles and a team-high 7.5 tackles for loss. KVA also added 3 sacks, 2 pass breakups, 3 quarterback hurries, an interception, and a fumble recovery.

This sucks. Hurts this season AND going into next season. While he may be “cleared”, I’d be surprised if he’s himself before October next season…

I said that after last season we were due for a healthy season.

Instead, we got somehow more injuries.

There better be a clean slate of health for the next 5 years to make up for this egregious miscarriage of justice.

I know he’s a loss but let’s not act like you lose all that production. It just won’t be at the same rate

Faraimo time??

Get well KVA!
Faraimo is more than capable, Is he as good as KVA? No but I think he can be just as good with some snaps under his belt. He also I think is slightly better at getting after the QB and has a little more length

If I am Freeman I make sure this guy is in the locker room for every game here on out...while he can't be out there on the field he can damn sure fire guys up off it with his passion and fire.

All we're hearing is left-knee injury and out for the season.

Processing the loss of Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa for Notre Dame football

"Losing sophomore linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa for the season with a left knee injury is a crushing setback for the Notre Dame football defense...

The injury occurred late in the second quarter of a 70-7 win over Syracuse. This is the second straight year Viliamu-Asa has suffered a knee injury in Game 11 of the regular season."

Watched some of his overall highlights from the first two years. Bottom line is what worries me is the lost of his burst on defense with the combination of his ability to play with tremendous instincts and understanding of the linebackers position. His ability to avoid blocks and play his gap with speed is something that I just do not see from any of our other linebackers. Bowen has the instincts but not the speed. Madden is long and athletic but lacks the burst. Sneed and ausberry have the burst but lack the instincts. Hate to be negative Nancy but he is just such a joy to watch and one of the main reasons the defense has shown so much improvement the last two months
