Has anyone given thought to where Michigan is if they beat OSU? They'd be 10-2 and in the playoffs. Hopefully behind us still.
Michigan would have to blow the doors off of Ohio State to jump us. They’d need some breaks to even make the field.

Look at their schedule. Their best win to date is Washington. They beat Purdue by five and Northwestern by two. And they lost by double digits to the two best teams they played.

Yes Ohio State would be the best win anyone has in the country. Not sure it’s enough to overcome a whole season of being mediocre.

Yeah, I'm just not sure beating OSU (unless it's by 3 or 4 scores) is worth a +8 jump in the rankings. I know OSU has struggled against UM the last few years, but I'm really not worried about Michigan winning. Michigan is not a good team and hasn't looked good against any team with a pulse.

At least Cowherd, usually not much of a fan of ND, agrees with the committee's reasoning for ranking ND ahead of Miami.

Random Cowherd clips pop up on youtube, and during the Freeman era he’s basically turned into an ND fanboy.

Totally agreed. Autobids need to go, all of them. It's just welfare for the shitty conferences. If your conference is worth a damn, then it's champion will be in the top 12. Seeing as the ACC and Mid12 would never go for that, we at least need to have a clause where you have to be ranked in the top 20 to be eligible for an autobid.

I think the schools and their fans that are in big conferences (Big and SEC) think the rest of college football thinks like them in that you should be punished for not being in a big conference (Big, SEC) when I think it is the opposite of that. Probably most of college football prefers ND and the independent model over the big super conferences.

I really think the Miami v ND argument comes down to both sides only have themselves to blame and if it was the case Miami was above ND we should/could complain and whinge because that drives interest but at the end of the day man up and accept it was always in your own hands. If you are 2 losses that's your problem.

My ideal first three rounds of the playoff at this point:
Round 1: Miami
Round 2: BYU Miami
Round 3: Texas Tech Miami
Championship: Indiana Miami

My entire Twitter feed is pretty much these fuckers and I've ranked them in the order of most annoying to least so they get ousted sooner rather than later. You can tell who hasn't dealt with success in awhile and who needs an ass whippin'.

I've made changes to the above. They just won't shut up. They haven't beaten a team with a winning record since September 15th!

Another point, if they factor into their decision making that a key player--particularly a QB-- was injured during a loss and is now back and healthy, they should factor in that Carr as a freshman first time starter was essentially an unknown quantity and treated as such by ND when they played Miami but from that game forward--with hiccups--he's been dynamic and the offense has too. Switch Syracuse for game one and Miami for this week and I bet ND would win by 14 at a minimum.

TBH right now I think the bigger problem is the schools/fans of the lesser conferences (ACC/Big 12) thinking that the simple fact of being a P4 elevates them.

Our schedule - with Miami, A&M and USC - is tougher than most of those teams. But because we don’t play a “conference schedule” they discount it.

Exactly. If I have to hear another coach, fan, or commentator say "Conference Schedule" like it's a magical incantation I'm gonna scream. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever and ignores the fact that all of our opponents are in conferences. Then you get into situations where Miami and Bama fans are screaming at us about BC and Arkansas, but my brothers in Christ, they're from your conferences.

And now with the superconferences you can go an entire season without playing the best teams in your conference. In two years Indiana has played what, 3 ranked teams in the regular season? One of those is Illinois this season too. PSU last year played one good team in the regular season and lost, lost their CCG, and then got rewarded with the easiest path to the semifinals imaginable.

OUR 12-GAME SCHEDULE INCLUDES 10 P4 TEAMS, LAST YEAR'S G5 PLAYOFF REPRESENTATIVE, AND A STRONG CONTENDER TO BE THIS YEAR'S G5 PLAYOFF REPRESENTATIVE.

(sorry to shout but yes, it is maddening)

Yep the ACC and Big12 are only stronger on the basis that there will be a championship game so all Miami needs to do is win that so why aare they bitching so much.

Watched this guy before we played Georgia (he's a Georgia fan). Did a really good breakdown on our team and was complimentary, really knew his stuff.

TT fans this year remind me a bit of ND fans in 2012 in that there is a general sense of naivety and overconfidence that has formed around them and I think their bubble will be burst hard in the postseason.

Say what you want about FSU-Miami, but they have a REAL rivalry.

It isn’t a fake “we hate each other” that turns into a conference circle jerk in the post season.

FSU fans are gleefully shitting on Miami’s predicament, and pointing out how nobody else cared when they got shut out after an undefeated season.
