Enjoying the idea of Penn State fans watching their best case scenario lose to Minnesota.
I'm just not sold on Rhule as a good coach. He doesn't win the big games and he doesn't consistently do well in the games he should win. His record vs the top 10 is worse than Franklin's or maybe on par. I get the argument he doesn't have the same horses as those top 10 teams, but neither does Brohm and his teams show up and win those games.

I don’t think anything changes.

We lose another game and we are out no matter what happens with Miami and Texas A&M.

We win out and we are in no matter what happens with Miami and Texas A&M.
Correct. We just have to keep going 1-0. Everything else will take care of itself.

If we have a star QB and are top 5 in ESPN’s beloved FPI, they aren’t leaving us out. The argument will be easy for them to make to justify it. We could end up with like a 25pt average margin of victory after week 2.

Yeah. Having a dominant unit is a huge selling point. And if the defense continues it's upward trajectory we could end up with a very good to elite unit and a really solid other side of the ball as well. Being able to sell a 10 win complete football team with only 2 close losses to ranked teams and a Heisman contending QB (and maybe RB) for a program like ND seems like a no brainer. We will get the benefit of the doubt.

It does not feel like last season in terms of all the necessary results going the Irish way.
Got to enjoy the big game against USC for what it is.

That's the Beck I expected to see against ND week 1.

Dude is, and always has been, a complete fraud. Not a leader. Not a gamer. Melts under pressure. And Cristobal is BK 2.0; will get you to 10-2, but that's about it. Clearly playing for the tie at the end there, and Louisville knew it.

Man, that game is going to frustrate me for a long time.

Timing sucked for ND. Starting a new QB who’s never taken a college snap & breaking in a new DC. But if that loss didn’t sink ND’s season. If they lose tomorrow…it’s over

His arm has been shot since like Week 4. They have no downfield passing ability now which makes the offense much easier to defend

Having the two toughest games on the schedule at the start of the season was just foolish scheduling. No other FBS team of which I am aware decided to do that/agreed to that. It doesn't mean we would have won if, say, the Pitt and Miami games were switched, but we seem to have improved a lot since the first two games.

thUGA knew what they had in Beck. No character, less heart, and folds like a cheap tent under pressure.

If the Irish would have committed to run the ball more at the start of each half and had a pulse on pressuring Beck, Miami and Beck would have two losses at this point and be on the fringe of playoff consideration.

Lord,… portnoy has ruined the Fox show,… it used to be a bit more tolerable than the espn one but good lord.
I've never been into the Fox show, but sometimes I would check it out. I refuse to watch it now. People think Pat McAffee is too much, but at least he seems like a cool guy to hang out with and even if it was punting, he at least played in the NFL. I can't take Portnoy seriously at all and he seems like a total douchebag midget.

Saban was actually right on game day about Franklin
Saban has really loosened up and grown into his role. He was a little uptight at the beginning of last year, but he's found a good balance of really great analysis, some authentic moments, and playing along with Pat.

Saban staying on top of his “Just for men” hair color. Nothing says fake color like the mystery color of just for men. What a peacock. Loves when Shane Gillis basically said he paid his players when he was on. Btw that little weenie Desmond picking USC just because his team sucks. I have many non PC thoughts when it comes to him. Long term charity case.

Is it a bad omen that this happened on USC week?

I remember when Jonas Grey pulled that shot for us against Skip Holtz and FSU. Lost that game despite outplaying the shit out of them. That was worthy of a benching. I think snakebit Crist was QB that day. Grey went on to make cover of sports illustrated based on best single game RB effort for the Pats and then thought he was the shit until he was instantly humbled and benched by Bill B. Bill B chokes another one.
