2 Bid ACC in the style of SMU is potentially a problem:

- Georgia Tech is undefeated with a joke of an ACC schedule left. UVA one loss with the same as posted above. Georgia Tech of course has Georgia too. Duke hosts both of them. Go Blue Devils.

The Big 12s 2 bid chances will be tested these next two weeks. Utah facing ASU and BYU. Arizona State facing Utah and Texas Tech. Chaos results preferable there.
I have warm feelings towards GT and they're a solid, well run team, but they're gonna drop a couple of games. They're not that good.

Irish up to 5th in the FPI. Defensive effeciency is now 35 and offense stayed in top 5. This will be a team nobody wants to play in December.

Iowa State is in for a world of hurt in the Pop Tarts Bowl

I can’t get behind any CFP, and feel a 10-2 logjam incoming between many teams.

For every loss that helps, dumb shit like Penn State beating OSU will happen to nullify it.

Neither does Texas, quite frankly. Sure, neither of their losses are as bad as PSU but they also haven't beaten a P4 team yet this year and have looked rough even in their cupcake wins.
There’s also the eye test ND’s defense looks better Texas and Penn State look like ass, if we gave up 40 to UCLA ash wouldn’t be here

Can we play UCLA tomorrow? Asking for a friend.

Also, I affirm, declare, promise, and swear this will be a thing, because people are stupid.

When playoff discussion heats up, a talking point will be “but Penn State lost to UCLA.”

Like clockwork, the rebuttal will be “but ND lost to Northern Illinois and got in last year.”

This rebuttal will completely ignore how “this good team lost to a shitty one” is where the comparison ends.

It will just be that statement, and zero acknowledgement towards any of the other factors that make that a stupid comparison.

Checking in on the computer power rankings, we’ve solidified ourselves as a top 5 team essentially across the board.

Sargarin: 4 (essentially tied with Bama at 3)
DokterEntropy: 3
Teamrankings.com: 5 (essentially tied with Oregon at 4)
FPI: 5 (essentially tied with IU at 4)

Some other good ones like David Harville and Slate Fluker haven’t been updated yet, but we were top 5 last week so that won’t change.

OSU is the unanimous #1, and we’d seemingly be a 3-5 point dog on a neutral field.

Notre Dame is up to #8 in SP+ jumping a massive 11 slots primarily due to the defense rising from being ranked in the 50s to now a respectable 28th.

Hardest team left is USC who has the #1 rated offense and #49 rated defense

I’m not asking how SP works (know that’s a big ask), but how does this work?

Will Indiana be ranked higher than us if they lose to both Penn State and Oregon?

I wish he would stop posting the Resume thing. Connolly's like Nate Silver, the second he starts introducing subjective measures into his shit he reveals his complete and utter lack of a theory of other minds. Nobody cares about the weird thing you came up with, man.

thats a really good question. As of now, miami=ore and a&m>>psu. But they stomped illinois, so we need to continue to dominate and have usc win out after we curbstomp them of course. Guessing it will come down to eyeball test, overall reputation, and whoever lost first, so Im thinking we would be ranked higher...
That said, I actually expect them to beat at least one of those two.

SP+ seems like it needs a few more weeks before it’s accurate. Texas Tech just egregiously high, and Miami way too low. Lot of deviation from the other “predictive” rankings.

Penn State this year might be the most egregious example of a team being overhyped that I've ever seen. The number of supposedly serious analysts I saw picking them as their preseason champions was absurd. Who couldn't see this coming? They always are and will continue to be complete frauds.

I can't say I saw them losing to UCLA, but I knew they weren't real title contenders. Not with James Franklin and Drew Allar.

Who'd you rather be your starting QB? Arch or Allar? Which QB was more of a mistake to run off? Ewers or Bo?

Allar by a mile, Arch just doesnt have it. Hes not good. Alllar gets the yips but at least he has talent, you can potentially coach around yips. (Well Franklin cant, but...)

To your second question? Im happy where we are, thank you very much
