Rice should have played yesterday (as should have Chisolm). Boon over analyzed - didn't have the right feel.

Two double plays are hurting the pitch count. Need to chase Rodon.

Especially with Cora going BP day in game 2 of the Wild Card.

Dang, when they show the batter front/side-on that blonde in the stands has to be a players GF. Nice.

Duran is a usually reliable glove & would tell you he should’ve caught it. I bet they scored it a hit b/c he left his feet.
Absolutely an error, and as noted both Duran and Judge would agree.

Scored as is because it’s Judge. No debating that.

Tough game for the Sox. Yankees got the breaks - the perfectly placed hit on which Chisholm scored from first - and the Sox gave them a couple - Duran's drop, Sogard not heading home slow roller to second. Lord knows what'll happen tomorrow with the young pitchers. Wild times.

I thought he was at second. Wow.
Surely with 3 of the 4 series going to a game 3 and the 4th still in play there will be a team that lost the first game and goes on to win the wild card series. They hit Boonie with the fact (in an interview yesterday) that no team has come back after losing the first yet.

Shit happens. It’s baseball.

Yankees have a Rook starting tomorrow too. Didn’t know that until I just looked.

Yeah was a hell of a run by Chisholm, on a ball that could not have been better hit for the Yankees, barely fair and then bounced off the right field wall. Sox right fielder played as well as he could and made a fine throw, but Jazz is fast and was running on the pitch.

Plus that save Jazz made. Two big contributions. The boys that got left out yesterday slapped Boon in the face today.

Good game from both the Yankees and Sox. Pretty even throughout. Yankees had several 3-0 counts and chased pitches to blow opportunities to get guys on base. tomorrow is decided by the bullpen, advantage Sox.

I don’t think so. I think our young ace shows tomorrow.

Damn. Roberts just pulled his pitcher with a 1-2 count. Not sure I’ve ever seen a pitcher get the hook mid-count.

Yeah, me neither. Probably a good call though, that kid didn't have it.

He’s a good young starter (BC alum) but Roberts is desperate for bullpen help so he rolled the dice and lost. This will be a loooong bottom of the 9th. First batter always reaches base & then it’s sweaty palms time. Like watching ND in 2009 trying to prevent a middling offense dink & dunk down the field w/ a D that just can’t stop them.

Sounds like a Kenley Jansen close.

Hard to feel optimistic after yesterday's (and really the entire month's) deplorable offensive showing. Never know which Flaherty the Tigers are going to get. He can look lights out through the order two times, then fall apart the third time through.

He is the more proven postseason commodity though. Hope he brings his A-game.

Who is the fastest base runner in the MLB? Jazz Chisholm or Corbin Carroll? Carroll can absolutely zoom but Chisholm surprised me with that 1st to home last night. I guess google will answer for me and I'll post a follow-up.

Damn, I was way off on Chisholm, he's at 267 when ranking top speed. Carroll is 11th. Did not know Bobby Witt was that fast, wish he'd get traded to a big market team so we could see him in the playoffs and he could get some October recognition:

Chisholm had an OBP this past season of 332.

Carroll was 343.

350 or higher is what most would consider "good." If these guys are that fast, getting on base would be a premium. Got really do anything with your speed if you're making outs.

Witt was 351 as it turns out.
