He played minutes after his injury happened. None of it adds up, in my opinion.
This response has been on this site 100 times now. He was hobbling all over the place when he came back in. Just because he stayed in the game doesn't mean he should have. Guys play full games on torn ACLs also. Doesn't mean they should keep trotting out there.

Where were all these high ankle sprains back in the 70’s and 80’s?! wtf?! Plus recovery time? Is it the size and speed of the game now or the surfaces? We lost key players last year (Morrison and Mills). I actually think we win it all if both were 100% healthy. Hope Moore is back and not at 75%. Let’s hope the experience DBs are getting turns into playing at another level. No excuse for shitty tackling. Cost us two games all by itself.
I’ll take the bait….

Is it because of the Tylenol?

Watched the Ark/Memphis tape. Ark did an amazing job of giving that one away after jumping out to a 28-10 lead. Looking at their scores over the last couple years they tend to do this (lose close games) regularly. Its no wonder Pittman is on the ropes. But they put together a complete game every now and then. They beat Tennessee last year.

Taylen Green has immense physical talent but he plays like a first year QB locking on to receivers and throwing inexplicable picks. A bigger, stronger version of Marcel Reed. Rest of their talent is so so, although the lead RB Washington is very good, reminds me of Logan Diggs, not a blazer but shifty and powerful when needed. Receivers and OL are pretty average.

They are a very big team especially on defense with 240 LB linebackers 220 LB safeties and that 385 dude at DT. They looked slow on the back end and gave up multiple plays over 20 yds. The game winning TD was a zone read handoff off tackle, One LB missed the tackle and then no one made a play, 64 yards. The 385 LB dude ran out of gas in the 4th quarter and got dragged 5 yards by the Memphis QB for a clinching first down in the closing minute. I see J Price breaking to the outside and running by these guys a lot.

While I am optimistic for tomorrow, I have this lingering feeling of indifference over the outcome. Chris Ash has broken me.
This is where I'm at. The defense and the two L's to start the season have been incredibly deflating. The Irish had been on a run with some good to great defenses for the past several years and most wrongly assumed that would continue, especially with the talent on hand.

I'll still be tuned in and the Guinness will flow, but the same juice isn't there. Hoping for a spark.

Thats fair. Id love to keep winning. But I also feel like if we lose and the defense gives up another 35-40+ points, I'll take solace in knowing Chris Ash is closer to being shown the door.

I'm kind of in the same boat. While I think they win, it most likely will feel like (another) complete disemboweling watching our defense get worked by Arkansas' O, which will make for an awful viewing experience and even more pessimism for the rest of the year.

I'm just so, so angry about how badly the defense has fallen off. It finally felt like Freeman had built the culture he wanted - run right at you, and have the defense play fast and aggressive - and that just feels gone.

I think the effect of Shuler being out in the first half against Purdue has been minimized.
Wasn't it Shuler that screwed up on a 3rd down call that gave Purdue an easy completion? I think people are forgetting he had Watts back next to him last year to make sure they were all on the same page and they miss that this year. People assumed Shuler would pick up the slack, but not sure he's been able to do that.

The defense was/is fairly young in a lot of places. Most teams get to ease in a new defense, we didn't.
They're not going to suck forever, and each game they will get better and better. I believe the second half of Purdue was the start.

About to hit the road towards FayetteNam in a few hours. My buddy who works in wine/spirits is hooking me & my son up. Front row tix on east side, parking pass & tix to hospitality suite (I’m driving home after the game so I’m not gonna be able to take advantage of that). He got our sons field passes for the warmups (unfortunately it’s for Arkansas side but cool experience for the boys). To cover up my son’s ND gear while he’s on field, my buddy got him a Johnnie-O lightweight hoodie w/ Hog & Modelo logo. His hookup works for Leerfield so hoping we can do similar at ND when Arkansas repays the Home/Home visits.

How many points is he worth? Judging by Miami, and TAMU, not a ton.

I mean people are forgetting we were missing 3 starters in the first have against Purdue on defense.

It’s fair to say there is a decent chance we have not played a single second with our starters in the secondary moving forward.

Miami did not feature Tae. A&M did not have Smith. Purdue did not have multiple.
