Apparently Malachi Toney reclassified and skipped senior yr high school , is only 17 years old . Pretty impressive+ Cam Williams, who we might get one good year out of in year 3.

Yeah my biggest question mark on the game is why not take more shots down field let fields go up for 50/50 balls, I'd rather see those than the stupid ass screens, Screens only work against teams that suck like Purdue or Ball State, not Miami
I've been watching football for 35 years....I'm talking 20+ hours a weekend. I've not seen a team take less shots down field (NCAA or Pro) than ND over the last 10 years.Yeah my biggest question mark on the game is why not take more shots down field let fields go up for 50/50 balls, I'd rather see those than the stupid ass screens, Screens only work against teams that suck like Purdue or Ball State, not Miami
I gotta tell you, this statement is hilarious. I suggest working on other aspects of your life.I've been watching football for 35 years....I'm talking 20+ hours a weekend. I've not seen a team take less shots down field (NCAA or Pro) than ND over the last 10 years.
Kizer with Fuller and Clausen with Floyd and Tate. Can’t remember too much after that. Lenzy would get out there sometimes but not nearly enough. We’ve got guys who have been on pro rosters that didn’t go deep. Miami was throwing deep hoping for a PI and got one when it counted. We don’t even try.I've been watching football for 35 years....I'm talking 20+ hours a weekend. I've not seen a team take less shots down field (NCAA or Pro) than ND over the last 10 years.
**Here come the Army, Navy and triple option team jokes...
I came to say the same thing. True definition of a troll.ND had a fantastic season last year and you were MIA and didn’t have anything to say throughout that run. Now ND loses their opener against a top ten team and you are back to spew your negativity? Welcome back…
Hell even Army and Navy take deep shots down the field when they decide to pass. They make it a point to throw deep shots at least a couple times a game. Both teams had WRs catch at least a 35yd pass with 14 or less attempts.I've been watching football for 35 years....I'm talking 20+ hours a weekend. The reality is, aside from one year of Coan, we haven't had a quarterback with a plus arm since Kizer. Book and Hartman may have "been on pro rosters" but not really, because neither could actually throw downfield with any drive. Meantime we have consistently excellent OL and RBs, while generally not great receivers. Our offensive gameplan has made sense, even if it has been frustrating.Kizer with Fuller and Clausen with Floyd and Tate. Can’t remember too much after that. We need to just divise a gameplan that gets our playmakers the ball, instead of using them as decoys for large parts of the game. Nobody else has this problem in CFB, teams in blowout victories still managed to get their best players as many if not more touches. The reality is, aside from one year of Coan, we haven't had a quarterback with a plus arm since Kizer. But now's the time to change this. Carr probably has best arm talent we've seen in a decade, and we do now have several good WRs to throw to. Of course we have to keep him on his feet, which seems the most urgent issue at the moment.
He was having trouble taking snaps in the wildcatcan someone please explain to me why greathouse isn't a bigger part of the game plan, one catch in two games is just crazy.
I think part of the issue might be that he's playing with concrete cleats on. My goodness he looked slow on that catch and run.can someone please explain to me why greathouse isn't a bigger part of the game plan, one catch in two games is just crazy.
wasn't that because riley leonard struggled throwing the ball. he was a stud the last two games a year ago.Outside of the last two playoff games he averaged about 25 yards a game last year.
Two catches for 41 actually. I think Faison and Fields are doing pretty well, so they’re getting the targets right nowcan someone please explain to me why greathouse isn't a bigger part of the game plan, one catch in two games is just crazy.
Good StuffSnap count:
Fields: 114 total vs 49 runs is 43%
Faison: 122 total vs 58 runs is 48%
Greathouse: 71 total versus 27 runs - 38%
Pauling: 43 total versus 20 runs is 47%
He’s getting taken off the field on run plays in favor of the other 3 + Raridon and in Week 2 Washington as well.
In many clips I’ve seen, Faison and Pauling are high effort blockers. We also saw Greathouse lacking on screens in WK 1.
You gotta stay in the field to catch the ball.
Carr has liked throwing to the boundaries a lot, Faison and Fields have also been open a bunch so that makes sense. In targeting Faison a lot, has Carr forgot he has Greathouse on the field?
I don't necessarily think he's a star, but I'm surprised he hasn't been targeted more.Heres my thing...
Everyone hypes JG to be this "star". I never understood it. He had some awesome games in the CFP, but what has warranted the hype? He's not super quick/twitchy. Not really a deep threat. Never got the hype.
Pauling is a better slot receiver IMO
I'm of the opposite opinion. The boundary throws are more difficult to hit. It's easier to see the receiver coming over the middle and is a shorter throw.I think in addition to my above with regards to Greathouse snap count, Carr first just trusts throws to the outside more. Which is normal for a young QB to avoid the middle of the field. And it’s not like ND is a big drag route type offense. When he does throw middle of the field it has been Raridon or Fields on a 1-1 slant. So a big body.
I do think Greathouse has too much talent to not scheme some things for him though
Not when you’re 6-1 and have to find throwing lanesI'm of the opposite opinion. The boundary throws are more difficult to hit. It's easier to see the receiver coming over the middle and is a shorter throw.
raises hand. i was wrong on FaisonCarr has liked throwing to the boundaries a lot, Faison and Fields have also been open a bunch so that makes sense.
Honestly, I’m really happy for Faison. He’s proven a lot of the doubters wrong. Would love to see Greathouse and Pauling emerge further in the next few games. Not to forget Raridon, who was great against A&M and has had some great blocks this season.
