Eh, I'm not gonna go so far as to imply he ran away from competition, but you have to consider he's in his 70s and navigating the massive sea changes in CFB was probably not something he wanted to do at his age. If he was 10-15 years younger? Sure, and I'm willing to bet he would have still won big.

I just don't believe this narrative that no one except Bama was paying players under the table. All of the top SEC, ACC, and B1G programs at a minimum were. Saban was the difference maker. If I was a 5* kid and was going to get paid either way, I would have went to play for Saban because he got them paid in college and got them paid in the NFL. Alabama has a been a machine churning out draft picks over the last 15 or so years.
More than 'Bama were paying players but 'Bama was doing it in large amounts and alot more than everybody else. The things past recruits said they were offered specifically from Bama during his reign was unbelievable. It's not even close in comparison to other schools during that time and it shows when you get 3-4 5* guys at the same position going to the same school. Saban 1000% knew the writing was on the wall and yes he's an elder statesmen but it's older coaches in the game.

Took a peak at VT’s recruiting under Pry - yikes. They should be a fringe top 25 every year IMO. They aren’t close to where they need to be. ACC could really be viewed differently if them FSU and UNC lived up their potential.

Ranking by year:
2023: 39
2024: 45
2025: 42
2026 (so far): 83 (11 commits)

Currently 9th! In the ACC in Team Talent. Just Brutal.

It happened again in the Va Tech South Carolina game. Holy shit the amount of announcers employed by ESPN who do not understand what the rules say about what a catch is. It's not a catch, stop moaning.

I would say the best looking QB I saw yesterday was Nussmeier. He looks and feels like a guy who play on Sundays.
So, if Nuss keeps it up, that's pretty much 2 straight 1st rd QBs produced by Kelly.

My bad. I thought you meant who they were developed by.
Daniels made the leap under Kelly. If Nuss keeps this level of play up, he's probably 1st rd, I can't credit the old OC before even mentioning the new or BK who, as far as I know, loves being involved with the QBs.

Of course, reality is that it's a plethora of different types of support, never mind player themself. More than a few who can feel like they had a part in the development.

I deserve to get beat up in here for saying this but having only watched a 15 minute highlights package and noting ordinary opposition, still, that young Michigan QB looked like the best QB so far this weekend. Throws a bullet of an ball.

It makes me sad thinking about one of the 2017-2021 teams having a heisman winning QB and 2 first round picks at WR

It's silly though because it's a catch (possession, control and even 2 feet) INBOUNDS, what happens out of bounds should mean zilch. Yet, you can dive at the pylon and loose the ball after and it's considered a TD.

Go check out that QB we were late to the party on Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, kid has an even bigger arm and is a lot more mobile than everyone believed last year.

Well good to see that Denbrock isn't the OC at UNC. They came out swinging.

I think we have no choice but to root against UNC bc they’d become a pretty big pain in the ass recruiting wise if they are decent.

True, already had Elijah Hood recruiting flashbacks watching the UNC back score.
