BK just wasn't hungry enough. He is a talented coach. MFMF is hungry. He will keep working till he wins a natty

Completely agree, he's about himself but he wasn't doing the grind....MFMF is grinding, from being At every ND sporting event, tv shows, supporting causes and players, to recruiting....BK was lord farquaadBK just wasn't hungry enough. All valid points except he was never winning a national championship here.Kelly liked to sit back and not do much recruiting… he wanted to be “the closer.”
Everyone put in all the ground work, then BK can go into the living room before NSD to make a big impression and try to close the deal.
The problem? He hated actually having to come through and do the job when they needed it. Some guys around here can tell you stories about various recruits that are basically the same thing as this McMillan story.
It was a common theme with BK recruiting, and a common theme with trying to close some of the higher-end recruits that actually seemed like culture fits.
Loved BK, love all of the amazing things he did to get ND to annual contention… love that a guy like MFMF got hired to follow and build on that, because a dude like BK wasn’t going to suddenly change into whatever ND needed to get over the hump.
BK would’ve won a natty had he fallen into a QB good enough to do the thing.
MFMF is building off of the BK foundation so well, that they might be able to do it without a true “elite” guy. If they can just land someone “pretty good,” the talent level is rising enough that it may just work out anyway.
Saban recipe, especially if he gets one in the next few years. The reality is that even MFMF will have to slow down and choose his battles in the future, or else he’s going to burn out quickly.
The key is that he capitalizes on that fire over the next few years and builds a self-sustaining machine, that way he HAS the luxury of sitting back a bit, and then coming in as the big guns when needed.
The problem is that once BK learned how to “manage” the ND job, it felt like he was using it as an excuse to pull back at times where he shouldn’t.
Even if he starts to manage his own work load, though, we will never have to worry about MFMF being hesitant to help close a recruit.
Not to mention, staying in shape himself, having like 12 kids and a wife to take care of, plus coaching, plus boosters and admin meetings.Completely agree, he's about himself but he wasn't doing the grind....MFMF is grinding, from being At every ND sporting event, tv shows, supporting causes and players, to recruiting....BK was lord farquaad
Lord Farquaad is a great comp on many levels.Completely agree, he's about himself but he wasn't doing the grind....MFMF is grinding, from being At every ND sporting event, tv shows, supporting causes and players, to recruiting....BK was lord farquaad
That was Todd Lyght who sharted and refused to admit anything was wrong as he leaked skyline chili out of his pants all onto Mrs Graham’s freshly scrubbed floors. He also cost us Thomas Graham who went to Oregon that’s a fact
