Anyone have kids going through the recruiting process for football?

idk if you read back but when we went to JMU for his junior day and talking with the head coach, he made a statement that has stuck with me. Your son needs to make the best decision for HIM, not go where he is feels "the most love", best uniforms, forced to go because of pressure from family, friends etc...because he is going to be at the university for practically the entire year minus a few weeks and if he isn't comfortable where he is, doesn't like the area, people there and everything else besides football etc and then when adversity kicks it, it's way too easy to blame and run away. This isn't my life to live, it's his. Certainly will guide him and reinforce things but ultimately HE is the one who has to do the work.

I agree wholeheartedly, but I also believe that if a parent feels strongly then it’s ok for them to express their opinion. They also need to be willing to accept and support their son/daughter’s decision regardless.

Is he planning on going the college route or try to go pro right away?

Chesney is a good dude, as I'm sure you know. Local to us, played at Lourdes. He did great things at Holy Cross, and seems to be continuing that at JMU. What he said to you sounds like a football coach who knows:

A, I coach at JMU, so I need to get kids to commit for 4 years to have success at this program
B, Probably trying to get those small school kids who are 2 and 3 star players, but will play hard to see the vision of the commitment to the program

As I mentioned prior, my cousin who coaches at Minersville raved about the trip they took with Dante Carr this past year there. Said they were unbelievable as hosts and showing off the pros of going there.

This program is like a European version of IMG Academy...he wants to go Pro...he's a 4.7 on a 4.0 student...he can go anywhere he wants...both boys are going to try and do some ID camps this summer.

The one going to Italy plays CB, LB, RB and the other twin plays CM, CAM, CDM and CB, LB, RB as needed

They are both only sophmores and D1 starts 6/15. Boys are compiling a list of schools they want to target and plan is to see a few camps.

My neighbor played at Indiana in the glory years when they won the NCAA in 82 and 83 and took 2nd his other 2 years. He told me Brian McBride lives 1 block over and they went golfing. You better believe im going to want to be introduced to him for my son's sake lol

Son got offered today by Austin Peay. It’s his 3rd offer but first one where it would be a full athletic scholarship. He’s pretty excited. Heading up to the NE next week to hit camps at Columbia, Dartmouth, Colgate, and Cornell.

The dream obviously, would be for Penn State to offer just so we could tell Franklin to go f*ck himself. I guess that would be more my dream. Luckily my son isn’t a lunatic like his old man.

He got tired of constantly being hassled by coaches texting, calling etc and the big offers just haven't come in yet but they keep texting him. And stringing him along.. so he went where he felt wanted and they've been on him for while and have followed through with everything they have said... just didn't want to lose his spot ... if big offers come later, he'll officially visit but holy freaking money we've shelled out for visiting...4 trips to UVa, 3 jmu,bc,uconn,temple

Where in PA would you be driving from? Breeze Airlines flies direct to Norfolk from Pittsburgh, that's like $150-200 round trip usually.
