He's super laid back about it and doesn't act like it's a big deal and I'm like are you crazy, this is insane... and it's not like he's some 5 star getting hounded on a daily basis so that helps
I always assumed i would be more excited about than my kids would be if that ever happens

I play old man lacrosse with a guy who’s son is the top lax recruit in the country. He just committed to a top dog and his wife wouldn’t let him speak to the coaches. He said after meeting the ND staff he was ready to throw on the leprechaun costume and commit right there. Ended up committing to an ACC school but he said the hardest part for his son was telling the great coaches he met that he was going somewhere else. Have a blast man and enjoy!

And you call yourself a fan. All you had to do was send us your Venmo and we would have happily helped with his decision.

Damn, he didn't commit to the reigning and back to back national champion? Scared of competition.
But in all seriousness, gratz to them. Hard to go wrong with the ACC for lacrosse and education.

so just updating things if anyone cares; but crazy how freaking expensive this shit is visiting everywhere..He now has committable offers from UPenn, Cornell, Columbia, Harvard, Lafayette...Temple fired their coach so all offers were rescinded by the new coach. They had him visit but he hated the area in phila. We just wrapped up visits to UVA again, JMU, Villanova. Both UVA and JMU want to seem him work out in person to confirm an offer as just based on his film, grades and measurements they want him..Awesome to see practices live and being right on the field w/ players and coaches to see how he would be coached and how they practice. Heading to UCONN this weekend and then heading up to Boston College next weekend. Iowa St just reached out and wanted him to visit but hell, that's 15hr + drive......got to see Jayden Thomas at UVA....buddy is barely running w/ the 2's and because of knowledge about him, i was talking with a coach and he has been somewhat disappointing...just said he's not what they had thought they were getting at this time....

you know when your not a hot commodity like 3,4,5 stars...that doesn't happen...interesting enough, when we were at JMU for junior day last weekend, a 3 stars dad was talking to me as his kid would have played my son's team had they each won their last game. Anyways, the parents and recruits got to ask questions to several players the coaches had on a players panel. This dad of the 3 star asked the question of NIL and how they are being compensated and what are the opportunities available. The senior player on the panel all but told the parent to STFU. He was so annoyed by the comment, he said they were being well taken care of but the idea of this being even a question, he said if this is a priority in your son's future, then don't come here because we're here to win, get an education and play football.

Yeah but it has to be super cool to see these places. I have been to JMU and Virginia. Both beautiful campuses and areas.

Sit back and enjoy the ride. You're lucky.

Not football and not my kid but my nephew who is 16 can throw 92 mph and he's being recruited by Western Michigan, Central Michigan and a few other MAC schools.

Super proud uncle.
Thats crazy. As a junior I threw 92 at a showcase and got offers from various P5 conferences. This was 2011. Its insane to me how 92 has become, I dont want to say common, but only MAC?

Tell the kid to keep his head down and to keep grinding. I think a lot of doors are about to open soon! Exciting times man for you and PANDFAN

Thanks man. He is definitely working hard. He is on a travel baseball team as well so I'm sure he will be noticed a lot more. He's not disappointed because he wants to stay somewhat close to home (we live in Grand Rapids Michigan) and academics are huge for him as he has a 3.9 GPA to go along with his baseball abilities.

the prob is that he wants to be a teacher at least at this time ....and despite being offered, its not like the rest of DIV1 scholarships. Now they are adopting newer financial help for those families not making 200k basically going for free to Harvard. Upenn and cornell have also indicated they are moving in this direction but he wants to play big time football and this is his journey.

Man, if the Ivies come calling, I don't see how you could say no, especially for the likes of Villanova, James Madison, Temple, etc. UVA would be the exception because , like Michigan, it is an elite public institution.

What's it like as a parent and having grown ass men trying to text your son? I always wondered what it's like to think "oh yeah, that Chad Bowden guy is texting Timmy to play COD and wants to chat all the time". I'm definitely making it weirder than it is but seeing Chad dance around with a boombox in an airport is not someone I want chatting with my son at 11PM on a wednesday night.

With the change to 105, was there PWO opportunities available to your son that are now in limbo? Do schools have that conversation now or is it a "we'll speak in the fall"?

that's the thing, I have only met w/ the coaches f/f ...some the d coordinator makes time to sit and chat and others just have his position coach and recruiting coordinators talking with us f/f. he hops on zoom calls prob 1-2x's a week from different schools but when i inquire what kinds of things he talks to them about, he indicates it is mostly just updating them on life and them answering questions he brings up about what life is like as a football player at the respected schools. the schools ask him who has been coming after him and where he plans to visit but everything we have been talking about has been working towards an actual offer

you know coach chesney at JMU said it and really hit home...he said to us, it's his decision to make and live with it...he explained how everyone wants to tell you how great you are, social media talking about you, getting NIL, being the guy and then let say you get injured, you're not in the depth chart where you think you should be, it's 6am practicing outside in the cold, failed a test, getting home sick......if you made the decision for your parents, it's too easy to blame them and then enter the portal....he needs to be the one to make the decision as he will be the one having to live there year round, be around the football team guys year round, practicing, lifting etc year round....he said it much better but he's right

NDSU recruits routinely have offers from the Ivies. Kids go where their priorities take them.
