I watched an old Law & Order SVU episode from 2008 called Authority this week with Robin Williams as a guest star. Loosely based on a series of prank calls from the '90s and early 2000s, he played an engineer who'd lost his wife and child during childbirth and was lashing out at the world and authority. He would pretend to be a police officer and call fast food restaurant managers and talk them into strip searching a female employee suspected of theft. He'd done a lot of other stuff too where he got people to blindly follow authority. Absolutely one of the 2 or 3 best episodes of SVU I've ever seen. Williams just tore the part up and brought so many layers of depth to the character. We sometimes get caught up in his comic brilliance and forge that he was an absolute force as a serious actor too.

Just finished Manhattan on Prime. Found it pretty good overall. 91% on Rotten tomatoes. Lots of twist keeping you guessing on the spies. Really liked John Benjamin Hickey as the lead character.

I don’t watch many shows at all these days but the wife and I finally started true detective,… half way through season 1 and it’s decent, good acting for sure.
I've been on a rewatch with my gf who's never seen it before. It still holds up as great imo and I find new tidbits with each rewatch, but there's been a lot of good stuff since then.

Matthew McConaughey is just brilliant in that role. And Woody Harrelson plays his opposite to perfection. I wish I could watch it again for the first time. Just a magnificent season. It's a perfect one-off season. Especially because it's gets exponentially worse every season afterwards.

This board is made up of majority Midwest white men that think ketchup is spicy

You think they can handle more spice than Alexandra?

It is very good. Good to the point that when Breaking Bad won all the awards that year, I finally went back and started Breaking Bad. I couldn't believe that there was a show that could have been better than what that season of True Detective was.

I've never done a rewatch of either.

True detective season one was good. Last episode was a kinda let down but the last scene was decent. Season two couldn’t have started worse. Give me one likable or interesting character please
