ND's Talking Heads ... The good, bad & ugly

It’s way more toxic than the one here. You got two guys ranting like lunatics about how Merck is making shit up.
In that regard yes, I was comparing more so to how many questions he was getting asked over here. I haven't seen it be that bad over there. But I honestly don't really get on the message board over there. I follow Merckxe so I can see when he posts and occasionally read the articles. My primary use for 247 is paramount+

Seems like this eventually ends with a full merger and lots of journalists losing their jobs. Unless the new Rivals/On3 really thinks they need eight full-time FSU beat writers or whatever.

The good thing is they can go out on their own if they survive, Terry will create a new company in the next 3 years that will need staffing

Not that there’s any “great” services out there, but what 2 or 3 do you have in mind that would be better?
I'll absolutely agree with that sentiment about the overall quality, but that's the nature of the beast in this game. It's more infotainment than sports journalism. Come to think of it, I'm not sure that there is any real sports journalism left... The Athletic tries, I think.
247 is the best and it's not particularly close. on3 is Sports Illustrated for Kids.

As part of the transaction, Yahoo Sports will take an ownership stake in the On3 parent company. Yahoo Sports will have a seat on the On3 parent company board and leverage its unique scale to help On3 and Rivals grow their content and subscription businesses.

Is The Main Board still a thing on Rivals? Hadn't read it in 10+ years but one of the few places that would get audible laughs out of me just from reading

I think you'll find varying opinions on this across this board.

Personally, the only two I listen to are the II Insider with Tim, Tim, Pete and John and the Independent. A few of the other ones I've listened to I just find "low rent" if you will.

The Athletic is not what it started out as but it's still pretty good. The best around, really. Some local papers still have good sports sections (like I live in Boston and The Globe remains strong on pro sports), but those papers don't necessarily align with big-time college markets. ESPN.com, CBS, Fox Sports and such aren't much at this point. Maybe they have a few decent columnists.
The days of truly great sports storytelling of the sort you'd get in SI, at the more ambitious papers, and even at ESPN the Magazine in its prime (does it still exist?) are long gone.

It’s subjective but I’d rate Irish Illustrated first. Tim Prister, Tim O’Malley, John Brice w/ some Sampson mixed in is usually good content. Adding Brice put II over the top as it brings a national perspective who got his start in SEC territory.
