FWIW, ISD is saying that it doesn't blame Blanchard, ND, or TT for his ultimate decision. No idea what that means, but it does truly sound like it was a unique family situation that will keep him in Lubbock.

Why do we always run up against “unique family situations” lmao just another way of saying the money wasn’t right

Sounds like Suddes is the next target but I strongly prefer Brandon Harris. Texas' roster building has completely turned around during his tenure as director of recruiting and GM

Why would he leave Texas for ND? They’ll match any offer, provide any NIL, and is a young guy living in Austin.

Somewhere Chad Bowen is so happy he's jumping up and down punching air so hard, coins are falling out of his leprechaun outfit.

Yeah, he's not coming to ND. Wants to stay in Texas for life reasons.

ND will now focus on RB coach so don't expect to hear any good news soon for this position.
So it's not because they won't give enough NIL money to high school kids and can't recruit undergrads? Weird, cuz the guy with rock solid take after rock solid take thinks otherwise.

As much as it pains me, that sounds more like the Notre Dame I love.

Is Harris really an option. I see no reason why he would want to leave. Sides is fine we would just need to bring in a recruiting guy.

People are on here bitching about this?

This wasn't ND failing to pony up and Freeman shouldn't be expected to bat a thousand on these things. They went after the first target as hard as they could and his situation wouldn't allow him to make the move. Whether it was shortsighted, foolish, impressive or loyal. Blanchard made his decision and we can now forget his name like most of CFB fans. He can live at TTU for the next decade and if they pull a single top 15 class, he'll have massively overachieved.

Meanwhile, ND needs to keep pushing to become a consistent heavyweight contender and find someone who wants to play in the bigs. It sounds like we're locked and loaded, so hopefully the next target is eager to put their name in Irish lore.

Sounds like our staff has a problem closing deals just like we had issues closing on recruits we had locked up in 2025 mainly at WR.
Was just in Austin for a conference...holy cow Austin has some seedy areas...

Except there is absolutely zero indication it had any part in Blanchard's decisionmaking. So even if one accepts it as part of how ND does things, it's irrelevant to the situation at hand.

Honestly, read your other post and thought the guy with "rock solid take" was Merxc. Realize now who you were talking about. Good deal.

In retrospect, we came out on top of the whole Ludwig fiasco. We ended up with Denbrock and Ludwig is without a job now. We just had to sacrifice a year with Parker.

Not stressing over this as it appears ND is all in for success. The guy couldn’t fully commit even after saying yes a few times.

Onto the next and another chance to elevate the program.

Tbh what does full control mean? The team only recruits who the GM says? The coaching hires run through the GM? Come on. It all starts with the HC. Everyone reports to MMFF. I don’t blame them for handing him the keys.

It’s a decent scroll back at this point but I was incorrect prior, he does legit have full control on his department and who they recruit at TTU

Don't know that he would but don't know that he wouldnt either. Why would Bowden jump off a team that had a chance to win a championship for a coach with an expiration date? Why would the best DC in the country leave the national championship winner for program and coach perpetually stuck in 3rd gear? Why would an up and coming GM prefer staying at a place with 0 chance at winning a national title?

Maybe Sarks a cock. Doubt he leaves I'm just stating my preference that it's worth a shot. Seems like ND is willing to set the market here for the right guy and I don't think Texas is in a better situation to win a championship. In fact I think their a small step behind.

I mean if ND thought they had a done deal multiple times and he still wasn’t committed you just have to move on for the future of the program. I understand not wanting to uproot your family especially being a life long Texas guy but who says ND isn’t in the same position a year from now if he accepts due to those circumstances. Might just be best for both parties it didn’t workout.
