Yes and us calling each other names is fine. We’re part of the “top class” and we’re not subject to implicit and explicit prejudice at the same rate as other groups of people.I feel like we have turned a corner.
I actually disagree here. I have called you names and you have called me names on this board. You have no problem calling out red necks or hillbilly’s that fit a certain mold. But Misgendering someone is transphobic? We really in a world calling someone she or he is worse than calling someone a dumbass? I think it’s pretty safe to say the left has weaponized words to make their arguments. The dictionary has even changed definitions so people can win liberal arguments.
Conviction… morally and to truth.
Respect goes both ways. I have a coworker that refers to my wife as my partner and I know they are doing it to solicit a response. I think it’s rude… but if we have that conversation who gets fired? 2-3 weeks ago probably me…
**I will also add. The left is all about “we all have a different truth or reality” so we make up stuff up to fit their truth. But when someone on the right “has their own truth” it’s hateful. Irish1s truth is probably that he isn’t misgendering… therefore how can he be transphobic? I lean heavily on Irish1 side.
The idea of “conviction” is fine too. But, gender is based on social norms so it is always subjective. You and NoDak has both said you wouldn’t purposely misgender someone. As much as some that are more caught up in the culture war stuff than you, I think they wouldn’t be reactionaries in person either.
A good example of this is with religion. You see someone in a burka, you wouldn’t start ranting at them about how oppressive it is despite your views on it. That’s all this is about, you and many others choose not to be transphobic when others choose to.
