Iowa STATE visit? Doesn't rest easily in Iowa --- programs REALLY don't like one another. Maybe it's a sign that Iowa U won't be in this one. (I went to school at ISU for my masters, schools and citizens hate one another because of Iowa's superiority complex. I believe it to be worse than Michigan/Michigan State, though psychologically for similar reasons.)

His older brother went to ISU for basketball. Seems like they are the local school with the best shot. FSU and Auburn the only officials made as of today, ND probably getting the third if the Spring visit goes well.

Iowa State seemingly does a good job with the West Des Moines suburban schools. Not shocking.

Ames sits just a short drive north of Des Moines; almost sister cities. Corn, soybean, and pork growers all.

Let those "eastern" fancy boys eat their Ivy League Tofu.

I'd respectfully disagree with the hate component, OMM. Is there competitive animosity on an UI/ISU GameDay? Of course.
But for the vast majority of Iowans, most don't care or even root for both (like myself). This is likely due to the lack of sustained success in any sport. Maybe it's the friends and family i surround myself with, but i don't see the superiority complex either.

If you track UI's track record of te recruiting, they find an incredible amount of under the radar diamonds in the rough types. From Dallas Clark to George Kittle, most of those guys were prospects no other P4 schools were recruiting.

MAYBE that's true now --- I've not been in Iowa for 60 years. But it WAS true back when I was at school. Iowa U people looked down their noses at ISU "pig farmers/ country bumpkins." They called names. Also, when there was a bit of talk about ISU joining the Big Ten, Iowa blocked that. Iowa always talked crap about ISU to recruits --- hayseed ignorants and all that.

(In an almost impossible real life comedy, ISU got a top gun RB on campus and he committed. Later he told be [on the intramural pick-up basketball court] that the only reason he came was that he was under the impression that ISU WAS Iowa. I asked him, what happened when you found out? Why did you stay? He said: they fixed me up with several girls that weekend, and said it was a regular bonus. Guy led the nation in rushing on the football field, and possibly other things off the field. Actually was a good guy though and didn't complain about me beating him in BBall --- not all the jocks reacted the same way.)

You root for both in addition to ND? Where do you find the time?

Agree, (my opinion/perspective only) U of I fans for a large part still look down at Iowa State.

The irony here PD, which i'm sure you know but for others on the board with any interest, is the man in your avatar, wrestling legend Dan Gable, wrestled for Isu then coached for Iowa.

Yeh. ISU people were stunned that THE GOAT went to Iowa, and hated that too.

ISU used to be the undisputed number 1 1/2 (to OK State) wrestling powerhouse in America (including when I was there.) Gable goes to Iowa and instantly, it seemed, Iowa passed both up. Cyclones hated that.

And then they lost GOAT #2 (Cael Sanderson) to Penn State

Do they hate that Cael is at PSU now and that he created that monster over there? 4 in a row and 12 out of the last 14.

Iowa is maybe the only school that can comfortably claim TEU above us, so landing two stud TE recruits out of that state in the course of five years would be impressive.
