I really think OSU's lack of experience against running QBs is our biggest advantage against this defense. We likely arent going to be able to run right at them, but zone read / option concepts will put these OSU defenders in positions they didnt find themselves all year.

The best run threats they faced were Nico and Dillon Gabriel - hardly comparable to Riley.
Especially true for Downs. You can't have that little prick making plays in our backfield. He diagnoses plays quick and he's a menace. Zone read will get him thinking and delay his decision making if they run it well.

Also a Braves fan. Obviously different because I had seen them win it before, but also I (like Shane Gillis mentioned) would straight up delete any other team I'm a fan of from existence if it meant I could see an ND football championship.

Like you indicated, I think the biggest difference is that I genuinely thought I might not get to see ND ever win one.
God, what a magical run in 2021. From feeling totally cooked when Acuna went down to Soler blasting one out of the stadium over the Crawford Boxes.

I agree with you (and Shane) though. I would trade the title with the Braves (and the Golden Knights, a little different because that's such a new team), easily for tomorrow night.

I am just praying for a win and then hopefully I am out.

I'm in the exact opposite emotional space. Win or lose tomorrow one of my biggest sadnesses is going to be that I don't get to see this team play another game because man it's been a ride.

The slow but steady growth in the regular season, the business-like dismantling of Indiana, the disbelief and exuberance of the Sugar Bowl, the pride from the gutsy comeback in the Orange Bowl. This team plays with joyful violence and have been an absolute pleasure to watch.

Agree about the favorite nd team to watch part both young and old, transfers and recruited. Especially Kiser being a local boy.

It's always 2011 Michigan. It's unbelievable how that game emotionally broke every millennial ND fan to the point that they had to reassess their relationship with the sport.

And I'm not above it. My memory of that night is walking home in the dark ahead of my girlfriend (now wife somehow), drunk, unsuccessfully trying not to cry, and her asking me "Why do you care about this if it just makes you miserable? Isnt this supposed to be fun?"

The good news is that it is fun now. Even when it sucks. It's always fun.
I've never been as angry as a sports fan than I was after that game.

I was literally inconsolably pissed for hours. I was watching the game at my local card shop, watched the ending there, was beyond angry. Then me and my buddies who weren't sports fans, went to Steak and Shake, and I still couldn't help myself from having random outbursts, where I cursed a few times in sheer anger.

One big takeaway from ND making it here in 2025 is social media. We are getting a firsthand look at how many people actually like Notre Dame. Ron DeSantis' kid didn't just choose to be a Notre Dame fan in all likelihood. I am guessing mom or dad is a fan. Gillis is a superman.

I'm sorry but there just really isn't another football team remotely similar where you have a ton of fans spread around the country with little/no attachment to the school.

America is cheering for Notre Dame because trey are likable and Ohio State isnt. But I think the big takeaway is Notre Dame is still the one team that you can find fans in any corner of the country.

Whenever Notre Dame's next national title happens....whether it's Monday night, next January, the January after that, or beyond...it's the greatest sports moment of my lifetime. Bar none. Even better than the one after it as well.

The amount of journos / podcasters essentially Saying our talent level is where it was under Kelly is going to drive me up a wall. I think I’ve heard 4 different guys say we were less talented than PSU and fail to mention the insane amount of injuries we have.

As much as I HATE Michigan I don’t want to play them every year. OSU will always be their #1 rival and I won’t want to Michigan State myself into thinking our #1 rival has a rival team that we’re second fiddle to
Texas would be a good team to have a game with each year. I think ND could supersede Oklahoma as their big rival.

USC should be the great rivalry but LA just doesn't seem to love college football the way these other places do. \

Maybe Clemson but I just don't have much interest in travelling to Clemson.

Try not to lose faith tonight. If we go down by 3,7,10 it doesn’t matter. Keep the faith. This game is destiny. Lately I’ve had some prayers answered in a big way, when all hope seemed lost. I am learning to keep the faith. This game is ND’s destiny. I feel it.
