Rocco and Coogan could transfer if they aren’t a lock to start. Can love the team but returning to sit the bench won’t help nfl futureRight unknown is Craig injury timeline, who knows if Spindler or Schrauth needs a clean up or extended rest.
Spring will be pretty interesting
🤯 amount of offensive line talentI prefer Wagner staying at RT. He seems to like it and he actually has more of a LT build but has always played RT. May be a situation where he is more suited for RT. It is fascinating because the wildcards to this are Will Black and Guerby Lambert. Can either of them be THE LT? If so, that opens things up for Jagusah to play a guard and maybe Knapp at Center. Reality is we have a ton of talent here and should be setup for success.
Joe Rudolph is the man.🤯 amount of offensive line talent
I get it, but sometimes kids have to be honest with themselves. If they haven't undoubtably earned a starting spot by year 3 or 4, they probably don't have much of an NFL future.Rocco and Coogan could transfer if they aren’t a lock to start. Some of you still under estimating Knapp. Hilarious.
Agree about Knapp. He'll have a year of experience under his belt along with another year in the weight room and spring ball before fall camp. That's in addition to whatever work he puts in during the summer. He may get moved, but it's going to be hard to supplant him.Agree. I just don’t see how he is gonna lose his spot after this year unless both those guys are #1 pick material. My best guess would be move Knapp inside or have Jagusah move inside and Knapp stay at LT. We are in a good position at the line for years to come.
I was thinking about this the other day, now that we'll be playing on January 9, and possibly January 20, that the team will essentially have less than two months of "off-season" to devote to the weight room.Agree about Knapp. He'll have a year of experience under his belt along with another year in the weight room and spring ball before fall camp. Usually you’re right. However, sometimes really good players get stuck behind guys who are just better. For example, Matt Cassel didn’t start a single game in college, but played 14 years in the NFL.If you arent good enough to start on a college team, you arent good enough to go pro
If only.If only ND could trade their extra O lineman for D linemen
Correct. He won the job with his play in 2023 and held it in fall camp when Coogan was losing the LG spot to Pendleton and being moved to C behind Craig. So when Craig is back to 100% he’s ahead of Coogan unless they graded Coogan higher this time around. It is very hard for me to imagine Ashton Craig not starting at center next year. He booted an incumbent starter that went on to be 2nd team all acc at nc state.
Tillery was recruited as an OL but got moved immediately to DL. I can’t think of anyone else.If only.
Related, but it's notable how rarely OLs successfully become DLs, once they're in college anyway. Especially given how many talented OLs get buried on the depth chart, and how many DLs you need for a full rotation.
We've turned a number of RBs and WRs into good DBs over the years, but can't really remember any linemen making that switch successfully. The few who've tried have never really gotten on the field on defense.
Yep. Tillery's who I was thinking of with "once they're in college." He played as a freshman at DL. Once in awhile in the spring they've tried DL with a guy who wasn't seeing the field at OL - John Montelus a few years back, IIRC - but it never seems to work.Tillery was recruited as an OL but got moved immediately to DL. Why does Jagusah have to be a guaranteed starter? One career start. Seems the staff loves him but you don't know how things can changeLT - Jagusah
LG - Schrauth
C -
RG -
RT - A. Wagner
C and RG are selected between - Knapp, Craig, Spindler, Coogan, Pendleton, Absher, Lambert, Otting, Jones
If Lambert is someone capable of emerging and taking the LT spot, then Jag moves inside to man the guard positions with Schrauth and Center becomes the most highly contested position - Knapp, Craig, Coogan and Otting all appear capable of challenging.
Schrauth, Jagusah and Wagner have to be 3 of the 5, right?
The criticism is he is slow and not agile.Ty Chan would probably fuck shit up as a DL. Hope that Farron guy moves to DL but he may be an all star at center. Save us Rudolph.
Because the staff loves him. Because he's apparently very agile, was already set to be the LT starter and will now have another year of Landow and coaching. He won't have the experience but I'd bet a lot of dollars (relative) that he'll be one of the 3 starters next fall, barring injury. Why does Jagusah have to be a guaranteed starter? One career start.
