Btw, per 247, Mendoza is the top QB available of the ones who have officially entered / are still available in the portal 10 best available quarterbacks and which teams are contendersYou're right! I read that one too fast. I saw similar ones from this clown saying Arch will transfer to Ole Miss.
This is a genuinely good question.Where does that money *come* from? Is someone paying $8 million to get a QB to Duke so they can win eight games? What’s the return on that investment?
I genuinely don’t understand NIL.

“A few things about potential quarterback transfers:
- With the exception of one potential transfer, Notre Dame is going after quarterbacks in very good situations, and/or the potential to be drafted by round 3 or better.
- Money is not an issue.
- Carr most likely will be able to play by the start of next season, but the preference of all parties is to be conservative with his progress, and give him another year.
- Minchey and Angeli don’t want to transfer, but there’s a high likelihood that one leaves, and both if a high level transfer is brought in.
- Even if Notre Dame misses on all the high level quarterbacks they’re chasing, they’re still likely to need a depth piece.
- At least one transfer’s representation was told Notre Dame is expecting to land a high end quarterback transfers, and that played a part in that transfer coming to Notre Dame.
This situation is very different than the situations with Leonard, and Hartman, primarily because neither had the level of choices afforded to them as do all the potential transfers. (Short of one)
So, this is going to be up in the air for quite a while, and potentially several weeks.
If they do ultimately land one of their preferred targets, expect the contract to be for between $4.25-$5 million”
Yeah I hope some of that gets spread out to sports like baseball and softball. Just even $1 million would go a long way in helping to supplement those rosters. He also added because of a recent push, ND is the top of the heap in NIL nearing $40MM across all sports. We will see how that actually plays out in the portal and recruiting.
Until we’re 5-3 and you’ll be bitching about how this staff can’t recruit blah, blah, blah. Put the best team on the field and kick all the ass put in front of them.I’m still not a fan of bringing in a transfer QB to start. I would much rather roll with Angeli or Minchey.
I wonder who the bolded might be referring to.More from Merckxe525 on QB transfers:

You don’t roll with a new QB with minimal experience with all the talent we have coming back. And the staff most likely told Fields we were bringing in a high profile QB. There could be something in his contract where he doesn’t come here if that’s the case.I’m still not a fan of bringing in a transfer QB to start. I would much rather roll with Angeli or Minchey.
Can Carr redshirt, then take a medical and still have 4 years?More from Merckxe525 on QB transfers:

I’d give that money to Love.More from Merckxe525 on QB transfers:

Weren’t we saying the same thing last year? I think we’re 11-1 but with an A&M loss if Angeli starts as the guy.You don’t roll with a new QB with minimal experience with all the talent we have coming back. And the staff most likely told Fields we were bringing in a high profile QB. There could be something in his contract where he doesn’t come here if that’s the case.
I’m going to guess the one QB no longer being considered is Jennings he looked awful against Penn State. I believe the 3 QB’s we are talking to areMore from Merckxe525 on QB transfers:

Get off it after this “parity” thing ends. It’s like there is a window right now when none of the super powers are all that great. You could say this for every season, until you actually start Carr. Bringing in a transfer is cool, but they need to get off that treadmill eventually
Did you not read what was posted Carr and his family basically don’t want to rush him so they are okay with bringing in a QB. No way in hell you roll with Angeli he will get sacked 30 times next yearYou could say this for every season, until you actually start Carr. Bringing in a transfer is cool, but they need to get off that treadmill eventually
Jennings I’m guessing his performance was awful or maybe someone like Allar who announced he is coming back to Penn State. It would make sense to bring in a dual threat thoI wonder who the bolded might be referring to.
Hypothetical:
If you had to choose between a stud QB or two stud DTs, which would you take and why?
Stud QB. I think if you bring back Rubio, Hinish, Oney, Armem, Selvanio and get a guy like the Utah DT who is good but shouldn’t command a boat load of money you are in a good spot but we need to get something out of Houston and Vernon but not sure if they have him at DT. I think Dixon is gonna be good but he isn’t gonna be ready next year. I’d honestly move TY Chan over to DT 6’4 330 he’s got plenty of size apparently we have already landed or signed 1-2 DT transfers just not announced yet so curious to see who that will beHypothetical:

Exactly we just made 8 million in the playoffs put the money to useAnswer is always both
Parity is mostly the result of NIL and the new transfer rules. I don't think it's likely to end; if anything, it's likely to go up with the "salary cap."Get off it after this “parity” thing ends. It’s like there is a window right now when none of the super powers are all that great.
40 million is nothing for ND lolI'm curious, how long are these "salaries" sustainable? If ND and other big schools are spending $20M-$40M per year, how long can they keep that up?
The term ROI gets thrown out. But, the ROI isn't monetary, as far as I know, the ROI is performance, wins, NCs, prestige, etc. Do these collectives and "friends of the program" get kick backs from the program if they win, kids if they get drafted?
I know there's people out there with stupid money, but raising $40M a year just to be competitive seems like a tall task for an extended period of time.
