Pretty wild how they’ve been able to stockpile talent. Feels like they get whoever they want.

They're committed to doing everything possible to win a Natty - whether it's buying top-tier HS recruits or top-tier portal players. They go all-in. Time will tell if they'll win a Natty, though.

I can’t imagine all this roster turnover is conducive to developing any sort of consistent or coherent scheme on defense let alone offense.

How many of these one and done players are capable of mastering a new scheme in a couple weeks in the spring and fall at this level? Not many I would imagine.

The current FBS team/recruiting model is really similar to what JUCO teams have been doing for years actually. Kinda crazy.

The turnover is great IMO. Helps spread out talent and gives more teams a chance to compete

The NFL turnover rate is really high too- I think only about 60-65% of the roster remains the same from year to year

Roster turnover is why I quit watching the Pro game years ago. You never knew the team you were rooting for.
Seems like CFB is doing the same thing now.
What good it is getting excited about the great recruit when another team can just buy him away down the road?

Fortunately I think the vast majority of high school kids who come to ND come for the right reasons, so they’re less likely to transfer. But it’s up to the coaching staff to develop them into NFL players so they have no reason to transfer.

If guys like Jeremiyah Love and Leonard Moore start transferring then I’d definitely be concerned

David Gusta, a DT out of Wazzu just entered the transfer portal. On the reddit thread there's a Cougar fan saying he was the best player on defense. Only 13 tackles and 1 sack, might be more of a run stuffer/NT guy.

Agreed. JMO but I think that’s why we see so many sons of former NFL players choose ND. They realize how lucky they were to get enough service time & money for lifetime benefits & that even the slam dunk prospects can have a career ending injury so better have a fallback plan.

I almost wonder if it should be the reverse, like "Hey son, I made a killing and we have the financial cushion for you to go out and pursue your dreams at a football factory". That is all moot if the Dad blew through all the money lol.

Of course I love that ND is able to get the NFL dad buy in, I'm just surprised by it.
