I refuse to talk crap to IU. Just in case we have another embarrassing loss. A ton of my family in Indiana are fans and i am just laying low.

It’s a zero sum game for you, much like when a kid on the wrestling team has to go up against a girl. You can’t win regardless of outcome.

We played them on the road

And we stopped going full throttle by half time. Every point after that was a byproduct of Purdue being inept, not us trying.

IU kept their starters in and foot on the gas for 60 minutes straight.

The son in law posted this in our family text after one of the boys asked him who he’s rooting for..

“In my defense, I've been an IU fan since I was a child. You bastards turned me into a ND supporter when I married into this insane family.”

I then replied
“Coming to the dark side was inevitable Marc. It sounds like you haven't truly accepted that. Cut the cord and finish the process. It's useless to resist.”

The economics of this are kind of fascinating.

There surely are more diehard ND fans willing to pay up than there are IU fans. But some will save their bullets for the second round, which will be easier to make the travel work, being three weeks away in a much larger city with more hotel rooms and flights. It is also a holiday week whereas this game will take place on what is a workday for most people.

Meantime, for Indiana fans this is a once-in-a-lifetime sort of event, and many won't even need hotel rooms or airbnbs (which have soared in price) because they live close enough to drive, which is not the case for most of ND's fan base. There may be far more ND fans nationally, but there are probably more IU alums who live within, say, a three hour drive, just given the size of the schools.

As for ticket prices, they will go down in price starting tomorrow when tens of thousands of alums get tickets in the lottery, some of which they will not be able to use. But how much?

Some enterprising economics grad student should study this closely.
For $1486, I want to actually be in uniform and get a live rep. Forget just sitting in my seat watching the game. I actually want to play in the game itself for that kind of money.

IDK, maybe I'm totally out of touch, but that seems crazy to me. That's a lot of money in our house.

Damn, they must not have been watching ND football the past 30 years. LOL!

Just finished latest II pod w/ Prister, O’Malley, Brice & Mentock.

Brice seems to me to be the most confident in ND winning this game. He respects IU but likes ND’s athleticism. He agreed w/ the others that IU is more of a sum of their parts & that Cignetti has built a good team in a short period of time.

They seem to agree that IU is the best overall offense that ND has faced. And likely the best defense they’ll have faced but they admitted the defensive rankings could be skewed b/c of opponents. They added that ND’s offense will be far & away the 2nd best offense IU has seen behind OSU.

Mentock noted that w/ IU‘s offense they are very efficient. Brice added that they lack explosiveness like an SC so if ND can get up on IU, they shouldn’t have the fear of them charging back like SC a few weeks ago.

IU’s defense is very attacking & they will be focusing on shutting down the run…like every other ND opponent. On offense, Prister noted that IU picked on the CB Igbinosun when they faced OSU & fully expect them to do the same to Christian Gray in this game. The IU QB is very adept at the back shoulder pass & they love to throw slants.

ND needs a healthy Cross to help shore up the pass rush to help the DBs out who will all be on islands.

I think what makes this game so tough to predict is that, outside of OSU; IU didn’t play any decent teams other than scUM who shut them down in the 2H & likely win if they had any semblance of an offense.

Of course. But the prices will come down. They already have (I see $825 on stubhub now, which is still too much but is not $1,486). Personally I paid about $250 a few weeks ago, and hope to pay $150 if I hit the lottery tomorrow.

I'm interested to hear Brady Quinn's thoughts on the game. He was spot on when they played Ohio St. He predicted a blow out and TBH he was quite critical of Chip Kelly calling the game throughout which turned out to be spot on. I know he'll have a bit of Homer syndrome on this one too but he's been good on a lot of predictions recently minus the Ohio St Michigan game which everybody missed

I submitted my lottery application two weeks ago and won't have my results until today or tomorrow. At the time I submitted the application, I didn't know for sure whether we'd even be in one of these games, and if we were what the date and time were going to be.

Believe it or not, getting from Hartford, Connecticut to South Bend, Indiana with one week's notice for a game the Friday night before Christmas is not exactly easy. There might *literally* not be any flights to be had by the time I get confirmation of my lottery success or failure. Or maybe my childcare will fall through because people are busy with Christmas prep that weekend. It's not just a train from Chicago for a lot of people, it's one flight and then a connecting flight and then a rental car and then three nights in a hotel.

So I might have 8 Lower Sideline tickets that I'm unable to use. I would love to sell them to Notre Dame fans only but it's just about impossible to sell tickets outside of the "official" resale sites because everyone assumes you're a scammer. There aren't a lot of good options.
Let me know if you're willing to be reasonable on the price.

I can't complain because the ticket was a gift to me....but I'm a bit irritated that my wife's family didn't listen to me and pump the brakes on getting tickets. They got wrapped up in the excitement (most of them IU fans) and just "had to" get their tickets. I said I didn't want to go at first, but they insisted. They pulled the trigger on 3 tickets in sect 107 for $1300 each (StubHub added another $1300 in fees...which should be criminal). So yeah, we're going...but as predicted by Wiz and others, prices are going down and more sections available. Could've had better seats for the same price, or less, had they just been a little patient.

My biggest concern is being stuck around a bunch of IU fans all day/night and the Hoosiers actually pulling off the upset. I might just jump in Lake Michigan and end it if that happens.

Seriously how can it take this long to roll out a lottery? I could have done this in Excel in like 2 hours. And why didn't they run the lottery like four weeks ago just in case?

My wife graduated from IU. Not only did I have to explain to her what the playoffs were but also the fact that IU is good this year. She's such a loser.
one of my coworkers is a IU grad but lived her whole live in South Bend. She’s happy for Hoosiers but ND fan all the way.
