It's going to be really interesting to watch how it plays out for playoff teams.

The main window closes on the 24th, so if you make the second round, you'll still be playing. Yes I know there's a later window for teams that are still playing, but most of the action will likely come during the main window, especially as desperate non-CFP teams throw bags at kids. I'd imagine some role players might jump in while they're team's still alive, but most won't. Does that fend off bidding wars for, say, our starters? Or does the drama just extend on and on?

Conversely, anyone you pick up in the portal is likely going to be competing next year with guys on your current roster. Do you want to introduce that dynamic in the midst of a playoff run? Recruiting someone to play next year over a guy you need to be locked in next week? I'm sure teams will do that to an extent, but you need to be careful.

It's like if NBA free agency started in April. What a sport.
Related to this, do we think Minchey or Angeli, eager to secure a spot for next year on another team (if they're intent on leaving for greener pastures for next season), leave after ND's home playoff game (even if we win) so they're not left out if they wait potentially until mid January to leave?

Louisville safety Benjamin Perry entered the portal. 3 year contributor and grad transfer originally from Chicago. ND should reach out
He plays LB for the 'Cards he pretty much outgrew the position was listed at 6'3 210 as a Sr in HS.

He listed at 205. Can also play that Big Nickel role we see.
Yea I was looking at his current size but it was on his recruitng profile for some reason...last I saw him was in that Clemson game and he had to be helped off with a big neck brace....Solid player though

Hey, if ND does end up looking for a new coach in the next few years for whatever reason, they should def. consider this guy. The one odd fit I see is that he's born and bred CA / West Coast (born in SD) and has only played/coached in that part of the country, so he could be an odd fit from that angle, but I like what he's done with BSU so far.

He's still 6'3 205lbs. Plays a star position which is similar to ND's rover safety/lb hybrid. Definitely could be a good addition as a box safety.

"illegally recruited"

Nobody said shit when Malzahn resigned the day before the season ended and was announced as the new OC at free shoes u the next day or 2 after.

It's only tampering when a player is being given new opportunities.

I wonder how much some of ND’s players are going to be offered to transfer?
Remember when Bama offered Michael Mayer $1 million to go there for his last year? More than that. We're going to need to invest to keep our up-and-comers here.

(but this is just another reason a deep playoff run will help us. If, just for instance, Adon Shuler is not on the market because we're still going into the semifinals, the thirsty bag-droppers will just buy a comparable safety from some team whose season is over.)

If Kyle Kennard hits the portal, I'd love to see him at ND. I have a few SEC guys I have my eye on, and he's one for sure. Plays for South Carolina, but was at Ga tech before that. His teammate Dylan Stewart is going to be a super star, but if he botls it will be for Bama or UGA 🙄

Pretty sure that this is his last year of eligibility. Kennard was the #1 grad transfer DE on my list last year.

I bet that one name will be Keon Keeley.
Im sure with that brilliant mind of his, he would attempt to go to another SEC school where they would spend another year shedding all that foolish weight 'Bama put on him.
