Pretty sure they were 3* when they were committed & became composite 4* well after committing.

Either way point still stands, neither was a Blue Chip prospect and theyve been huge competitors. Who cares what the rating services say if the coaches have a good scout?
Why are we still arguing about this? Everyone should know how important recruiting is to college football. Just because some 3/low 4 star kids are playing well doesn't detract from its importance. Unless you think coaches like Saban, Meyer, and Smart don't really know how to run a college football program. Even Marcus Freeman would tell you that we need to land more 4-5 star talent

So I read through the last three pages of the Derek Meadows thread to get a sense of the likelihood of him signing with ND. The sense I got was that ND's chances were low, and Michigan was now in the lead. Honestly there wasn't a lot of information. Would love to know if anyone still believes ND has a realistic shot? While there wasn't a lot out there when one googles Derek Meadows, the Michigan talking heads seem to believe they now lead, but that both Alabama and ND are still a threat. No one seems to have any inside information. Did I miss some major negative story? Thanks in advance for any honest reactions, even gut feelings....

It’s starting to look like Smart might have shot his wad when paying top dollar for players was still considered cheating.

Talent is important but in this new era it seems like nobody is going to be able to stockpile it year over year like some teams used to. Maybe the balance is starting to swing back to coaching now?
