This isn't winning me over. Anytime someone says "and it's not even close" the truth is they're exaggerating or in many cases outright wrong.

But between the two you mentioned Mozzarelli’s is better traditional. Oley’s for deep dish. We used to get Mozzarelli’s a lot when I lived up that way. B. Antoinio’s is another good one near Mozzarelli’s.

Whoh, whoh, whoh! Nobody mentioned deep dish up to this point. Does Oley's only do deep dish? That's not what I'm after. I'm looking for a traditional, authentic Italian pizza comparison because Salvatori's is #1 imo, so that's the bar these others have to top. I'd love to check out some of these other places sometime, but if I'm making a special trip it'll be just one quick trip to Indiana for dinner and back. So, based on the traditional requirement above you suggest Mozzarelli's?

Nah, Oley’s does have a more traditional crust also, but they’re known moreso for their deep dish.

I’d go Mozzarelli’s.

If your making the trip to Fort Wayne, you better have lunch at one place and supper at another. Throw in a Tenderloin for an afternoon snack and you are living high on the hog.

I'm not opposed to having pizza twice in one day, I'm just not sure I want to spend all day in Fort Wayne. I spent enough time there Sunday...didn't mention it, but jumping back on the Lincoln Highway, US 30, after lunch I had a tire blowout not 2 miles from the Salvatori's restaurant. Tire was shot, so I limped the 2 miles back to the restaurant and gas station in New Haven so I could put the spare on easier. Then I spent 4 hours at the Goodyear in Fort Wayne waiting for them to get a replacement tire from a nearby store. Finally got back on the road at 5pm, didn't get home till late.

I don't know what it is about US 30, but there was nothing but tire scraps all over that road when I limped back on the shoulder. I'm thinking Fort Wayne fucked with the road to drive up tire sales :laugh:

Touche. There are many styles of authentic Italian pizza, and I do like Neapolitan too.
Salvatori's is more of the traditional Roman style: Tonda Romana. It's a thinner crust, which I don't usually care for in chain pizza joints, but when it's done well it's excellent.

Ironically they just announced today in Columbia City that they’re making a couple of lights/roads into overpasses and interchanges to make 30 more of a limited access highway through Whitley County. Should help. The semis are ridiculous.
