With oil dropping again I wonder how Iran and Russia keep financing this. NK is sending artillery and men to keep the lights on. Once Russia runs through its reserves they can't pay for mercenaries any more.
I would not want to be relying on North Korean munitions if I was on the front line lol.

We need to up our support for Ukraine, the rest of the world needs to as well
I'm conservative as hell and I agree that we should be helping Ukraine. I'd certainly like to see the rest of Europe also help Ukraine more instead of saying, "Not our problem. Oh, and it would hurt our oil & gas supply from Russia."

I could be wrong, but I can't imagine the NK soldiers being all that committed to fighting given this is a regional war and it doesn't effect NK.

The actual people of Ukraine aren’t too keen on fighting their slav brothers. The corrupt Ukraine government on the other hand is all in as MIC $$$$.

The Ukrainian prosecutor’s office has opened 51,000 cases of desertion through the first nine months of 2024. The number of soldiers abandoning their posts is likely to double last year’s total.

The Times of London reported data from the Ukrainian government showing that "51,000 criminal cases were initiated for desertion and abandonment of a military unit between January and September of this year."

El Pais previously noted that 45,000 Ukrainians were being prosecuted for desertion from the start of the year through August. Al-Jazeera says the number is at least 30,000 desertions.

At the start of the year, Kiev was estimated to have between 500,000 and 800,000 active-duty soldiers and an additional 300,000 reservists.

The Ukrainians have also sustained casualties fighting to defend from Russian advances and amid Kiev’s Kursk invasion.

Kiev has struggled to fill its ranks with fresh soldiers, leading Ukraine to drop its conscription age from 27 to 25. As Kiev is still facing manpower shortages, American politicians are pushing Ukraine to drop draft age to 18.

I don't think they have a issue with fighting russians for their land, they just need to be properly supported and equipped.

This is exciting. And no one talking about getting peace talks going. Not sure this one is gonna end before there’s a shit ton of dead people around the world. It will make the MIC and Bill Gates ecstatic at least.

Good thing they got Trump out of there. He was turning the world into a war zone. Nothing but peace since he left.
If Trump was still POTUS this war would have been over a long time ago. I know this because Trump would have sent all that aid to Russia instead of Ukraine. Trump and Putin being besties, he's got to have his back.

I’m sure Trump could secure some private funding for him too.

A look from the Russian side: Comments from Putin at BRICS Summit

Ukraine has approached Russia twice with proposals through Turkish mediation but subsequently walked back its initiatives. "When we agreed, it turned out that the Ukrainian side had already withdrawn. This happened twice," he revealed.

He explained this episode further as follows
"We agreed to it, and the next day [Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky] publicly announced that he will not negotiate anything," the president said. "This is irrational behavior, which is hard to predict. No plans can be based on this foundation. So there is no sense in discussing whether we would reach an agreement and what it would be," Putin explained
He also warned that Russia "must conduct its special military operation with full commitment and dismiss any notions of the enemy’s fatigue."

Putin tried to bat down the accusations of Western officials and media reports which portray him as intentionally isolating Moscow from any dialogue. He said he has "never shunned contacts" on the diplomatic front.

"When we hear… that I avoid talking to some European leaders, let me tell you: that is a lie," he stressed. "We did not reject and are not rejecting anything. If somebody wants to renew relations with us, they are welcome. We reiterated that, but we do not impose ourselves.

Russia's doing so well they're refurbishing WW2 era tanks. Special military operation is unfolding as planned!

They were going to put old veterans in these and use them as fodder in their 'Seven days to the Rhine' plan during the cold war.

Weird. It’s like bottling up Iran has an impact on Ukraine. Too bad we’ve enabled them.
Yes and no. If we disrupt Iran's civilian economy they become dependent on Russia for hard currency and move closer to them. If we take out Iranian oil, Russian oil becomes more valuable.

There's a sweet spot of disrupting their military industrial complex without triggering them to do something suicidal in the strait of hormuz. Looks like the Israelis pulled that off.

I think the next step to pressure Russia is to put pressure on BRICS nations. Pluck them off and isolate Russia. Biden and the NATO folks have done nothing to isolate Russia. Weapons, money, oil, gas, and food are all flowing just fine. Iran is already close to Russia. They have provided drones that have been launched in Ukraine. Iran has earned what it has coming. They are now defenseless in the air. Blast the Straits of Hormuz next and leave them sitting ducks, broke, and vulnerable. Just my .02c.

A drone slammed into a building and campus in Chechnya known as the Russian Special Forces University in the early morning hours of Tuesday, regional governor Ramzan Kadyrov has confirmed.

"At 6:30 this morning, the roof of an empty building on the territory of the Russian Special Forces University caught fire in Gudermes as a result of an unmanned aerial attack," Kadyrov said. The town which hosts the military school lies just over 20 miles east of the capital Grozny.
