The best class in the BK era by far was 2013. It was a generational haul for the program, but then you had:

Eddie V defection
Max Redfield never reaching potential
Greg Bryant transferring (RIP)
Malik Zaire’s injury altering the trajectory of his career

Yep. That class was the high-water-mark of Notre Dame recruiting post-Weis, at least on Signing Day. And I'm sure going undefeated helped. But we saw no meaningful bump after 2015, 2018 or 2020, nor did it fall off in the wake of 2016. Class ranks in the high-single-digits to low-to-mid teens, with a bunch of four-stars and the occasional five. That's what we do. Just gotta make the most of those kids.

Is it?
We lock in the vast majority of our commits before the season starts, and the vast majority of those stick through Signing Day. And seemingly no matter how many games we win or even who our coach is, we finish with a class ranked about 12th, plus or minus three spots. If nothing else we are consistent.

Agree that certain football factories sort of madly throw money at recruiting when they are losing, but that only gets you a few players, not enough to actually win. Unfortunately for us in this case, one of the players it'll get you will be a quarterback.
Well we finish in that range simply because we strike out on composite 5* guys, don't get enough 4* guys to make up the difference (18+), and take 5-6 too many "project" 3* guys (below 88) who you can figure won't even see the field at a Power 5 school let alone at Notre Dame.

Yeah, I wish we'd never recruited Julian Love

Is Bama & Miami going to get in line for this rollercoaster ride too?? This comes with 5* material kids; just like NOB.

At the end of the day if Deuce decommits I am fine with that as long as Freeman has a plan B.

I wouldn't go to the portal and if anyone thinks Angeli will be leaving why would he leave with 1 year to get his degree unless if he is graduating early?

ND still has Carr- who I still think is the future.

I can't fathom how Deuce sees this consistent dumpster fire display they call offense on the plains and still be seriously considering Auburn.

I mean, even Ole Miss has looked questionable on offense.

Auburn is having something put on this guy everytime he visits that he cant seem to get enough of and it aint an Auburn tshirt.
Luckily, like most things, if you have the same taste enough, it gets old

I can't fathom how Auburn is in a position to supposedly "pick and choose" between 2 5-star QBs, when their on-field product on offense has been absolute garbage under Freeze so far.

That said, I don't see Deuce committing to Auburn, and I see him visiting next week. Doesn't mean he stays in class.

I choose to believe coach Marcus can eventually shop down a different aisle.

Three star Leonard Moore played a hell of a game today. Anthonie Knapp, too. He sucks.

, yeah that was a Instagram live that just ended. He was just doing a photo shoot in Auburn gear. Wouldn’t expect good news over the next few days.
The only good news on this front is that this saga will end and we can focus on the future. I'm sure the staff is already playing like he is uncommitted behind closed doors, I'm eager to hear who actually will be our guy this class.

(They should have never pushed for him or taken his rushed commitment because this was always going to happen and it’s sort of concerning that Marcus’s recruiting operation has done this twice with Dante Moore and Deuce Knight but what do I know…)

He's not staying at Auburn

100% this.

He has clearly studied film and is playing the game perfectly:

Step 1: commit to ND early and create a safety net in case of injury

Step 2: find program with deep pockets and no plan other than to spend, set market price and flip to them

Step 3: once market is set, sit back and wait for said market to be reset by others

Step 4: drag out recruitment, flip again to whoever ends up winning bidding war

Step 5: flip again to whoever ends up winning the final bidding war after the first “final” bidding war ends

Game respects game. Kid knows business.

Easiest way to maximize your NIL is to commit to Notre Dame.

It’s not like ND won’t pay, but they (understandably) won’t give you what some other desperate program will.
