My prediction:

I think ND gets a backdoor cover late. I think ND will come out a little sloppy from the aTm trip, and NIU is going to sell out to stop the run early and often. They have a good defensive unit coming back with 9 returning starters, so they might be good enough to give ND some headaches early, while Riley struggles a bit to connect with his receivers against an aggressive front 7.

The good news is, ND's defense will be up to the task against a veteran offense, keeping NIU to only 7 points at halftime, with ND leading it 17-7.

ND gives itself a cushion in the third after Freeman fires the team up, with Kris Mitchell connecting on a deep pass from Leonard in the third to give the Irish some breathing room.

Take the over, and the cover. ND 41, NIU 10.

45-13. I don’t see ND making BK style moves of keeping Leonard in the pocket like he tried Wimbush against Ball State. ND may come out a little flat which is why I’m not predicting a bigger win.

I think ND will take pains to get the passing game working. They need to get a better sense of what they are working with on offense.

And yes, this might be setting up for another 2018 Ball State game. But without the turnover issues. Leonard may be imperfect but he has a track record of protecting the football.

I don’t think Notre Dame necessarily comes out flat, but I do expect a hint of a hangover.

Similar to A&M, I don’t see how N Illinois moves the ball consistently on offense.

Like everyone else, I want to see the passing game start to establish itself. I also want to start seeing what separates Love from Price; get him more involved in the passing game.

CJ plays less than he should. One of their scores comes on the back of a busted play.

I think it’s a good game for us but some of the older guys on defense sit late in the game so they don’t get hurt and the young guys get playing time.

41-16. They fail on a late 2 point try.
