I watched Jordan talking to the media from yesterday's videos and I have to bump his thread. I'm going to nominate him to be labeled an ND man at year's end.

I would've never guessed he'd be here right now, making his biggest contributions of his career. Think about how his story started:
  • Notoriously tough but also out of control
  • Gets sent home by Kelly and staff (most of us assumed he'd be gone)
  • Comes back and works hard to earn trust
  • Has a great bowl game in 22
  • We expect huge things in 23 and it doesn't materialize
  • No big announcement about coming back for 24 and most of us somewhat forgot about him. We were enamored with the new guys at this point.
  • Had an excellent and complete game to help the team get their biggest win under Freeman.
He's now talking with the media and playing his best football in his final year. I just can't believe how much 'controlled violence' he's added to his game. It was a running joke for a few years that he'd cost us at least 15 yds in any game he played in.

When you can see a guy taking steps into discomfort in an effort to grow, you can't help but feel pride well up inside. As a father, I hope my son is as willing to grow as Jordan.

Great post. Just to add, he looks phenomenal. In his face you can tell that he has dropped a lot of bad weight. That shows something must have changed in his head after the bowl game and he has put in a lot of hours and effort in getting his body to a great spot.

I was also happy to see him nominate himself for a captain position. That takes guts and I think showed me that he is committed to being a leader, even though he may not have been selected. I see a lot of potential maturity from him. I just really hope that it pans out.

He's come a long way. And I hope that everything he has learned from football and the maturity it looks like he's found, translates to his personal life. God bless the young man.

I remember he was the #1 player coming out of Hawaii and he was always flexing his biceps in his hype/training videos lol

Now the young man doesn't need to flex anymore. His play on the field is the flex.

I thought the same thing. That was a guard, probably 315-320lbs, gaining steam with 3-4 steps and Botelho discarded him. Very nearly the way my 5 year old looks when I'm not in the mood to be tackled.

Everybody has been talking about how ND looked like the better conditioned team

This is the first time I can remember thinking we looked like the faster and stronger squad after playing a ranked SEC team

Ok, good. I've been thinking about the impact and keep wondering, if I'm crazy wondering, why that looks like something you'd see in high school/low level ncaa, not between two teams that annually recruit in the top 15

Its almost like freeman knows what hes doing both in the type of players he is recruiting and the guys he is bringing in to coach and train them. Some of the usual suspects are going to run out of stuff to criticize.

My favorite part is the writers on both the ND side and the A&M side kept harping on how hard it will be for ND to go to college station in the Texas heat and implying that we aren't ready for it. Those Bitches, the A&M team wasn't ready for it, damn hosers were dropping like flies. I told my wife going into half time tied that ND has this game in the bag because you can tell those jabronies are completely exhausted and the ND players still looked fresh.

Reminds me of this MLB we had in high school. Dude never spent a day in the weight room, but he was a farm boy that was lean and tough as nails. First practice I went to the second level to block him as an OT. He's watching the RB the entire time, he's not even looking at me coming at an angle, and he completely runs me over chasing the ball. It was like I wasn't even there, dude was just a fast headhunter that was tough as fuck to block when he had a bit of momentum.

That's what shocked me the most, I thought we were going to get a repeat of the FSU game a few years ago where our boys were cramping all over the place. I could not believe it was A&M getting all the cramps.

You aren't the only one. Dusty and Danny on serious XM were talking about how fast NDs defense looked. This isn't your dad's ND, but it might be your grandpa's.

It's only one game so far, but they look legit. You're right about Grandpa.

Ara's '73 team only allowed 66 points (6.0PG) which was 2nd nationally. '71 team 86 points (8.6) which was 5th and the '70 team 97 (8.8PG) which was also 5th. The '66 team 38 (3.8PG) was second. Overall, Ara's Defenses averaged 9.72.

Lou's '88 team only allowed 135 (11.2PG) which was 3rd nationally.

Obviously different era's, but always comforting knowing you're D is going to keep you in the game.

Glad to see things potential come together for him. His career trajectory didnt help. Thought we had a defensive end version of Manti after he murdered the South Florida punter in 2020.
