Well I'm not, the Republican party is the party that has more policy plans that directly takes power and control of my life out my hands.
When I think vax and mask mandates, I think power and control of my own life. The VP who says mind your own damn business is the Covid snitch line guy. Gun control is great for the freedom. Environmental restrictions on power plants seem pretty restrictive. The party of healthcare mandates, hate speech laws, and social engineering are not my idea freedom advocates. These are the people that vote against fireworks and for bigger government. You do however get more discretion on crossing the border and committing crimes while paying for other people’s college. 🤷‍♂️

Listen I addressed my specific reason for this a few pages back. And it's an outlier and can acknowledge that. Ive stated I agree with right when it comes to guns and I'm honestly probably further right on that topic compared to most. I don't want to discuss it again and derail the thread. You can go back to read my reasoning if you'd like. If not, that's fine too. I was registered Republican up until Donald took over the party then registered as a libertarian. I've never voted for a Democrat before.

I said at least one pretends. And again not sheep, never voted for Democrat presidential candidate or republican.
So you agree that both parties don't really care about the people, but you'd rather support the one that lies or pretends to care? Odd reasoning.
How to say “I’m a condescending prick”. Glad you were able to dodge the left wing concentration camps. Lol.
Oh my, concentration camps. I can't believe I was gaslit into believing that pink haired libs were the snowflakes.

Yeah, I didn't say concentration camps. So quick to assume a 1940s Germany reference. I did Nazi that coming. For reference, the article said "Forty-five percent of Democrats who took the poll were in favor of the government forcing people who refuse the vaccine to live in designated facilities or locations." It also said that 2/3 of the respondents were in favor of the government digitally tracking unvaccinated people. See, if I wanted to make a Nazi reference, I would probably say "Your papers, please!", but you knew that.

I have family from the South I'm well aware of what bless your heart means 😂 somehow I'm the sheep when all I'm doing is calling out their hypocrisy. He won't rebuttal any point in good faith because he's a sheep to his daddy Trump and the GOP
For a guy that hasn't voted for either side, you seem rather attached to the Democrats. I mean, I've voted almost strictly Republican down the ballot in at least 12 elections and I don't speak that highly of them. That doesn't mean I worship "daddy Trump" or think he's a god. I've said it before, I think he's a pretty flawed individual. I am shocked he's still running at this point though, I would have thrown in the towel personally if anybody was coming after me like the Democrats have. What I do appreciate is entertainment, I find it amusing how riled up he makes liberals. Quite frankly though, the 4 years under Trump were better for my family than the 8 under Obama and certainly the 4 under Biden, so for those two reasons I'll vote for him again. I so look forward to the day he retires from politics, but I'll miss the memes.

In truth, I'm rather jaded about politics. While occasional policies can certainly hurt or help different demographics over the course of each administration, each new president is more of less representative of the Who's line from Won't Get Fooled Again: "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss." Every election is the election of our lives, and yet we always come out of each election more or less intact. If every election is the most consequential election of our lives, then they're all somewhat meaningless. Therein lies the truth.

So you'll excuse me if you think I'm not arguing in good faith. I see both parties as little more than a vehicle to control the population. When I see people regurgitating the same talking points that the hive-mind mass media has been feeding them, I see sheep. Neither side is really interested in helping the people. They take their marching orders from lobbies, and they pretend to care so they can remain in power and flush with cash. One party is never in power long, because if they were it would upset the balance. It's been since WWII that a party has had control more than 2 cycles.

You throw out hypocrisy. Why do you think Democrats aren't just as hypocritical? They say they protect women, and yet they can't define a woman and they allow biological men to enter their school bathrooms so they can rape and assault women. They let biological men compete against women in sports, sometimes leading to serious injuries. "My body, my choice" just as long as we're not talking about experimental jabs. "Trust the science," unless, of course, we're talking about defining a woman again. Liberals cry for the planet, how climate change will destroy the Earth, all the while taking trips all across the country in private fuel guzzling jets and convoys of SUVs. Liberals call election deniers traitors, almost as if they've forgotten all about 2016 when Trump was the "Illegitimate" President who didn't really win. Liberal colleges cry for free speech and safe spaces, but if a conservative speaker comes to campus they often need security and they may get run off under threats of violence or they get shouted down so their voice isn't heard. Liberal politicians were all in support of their towns being Sanctuary Cities, until bus loads of illegals started showing up. There are always school shootings, but even when Democrats are fully in power they rarely do anything to stem the tide themselves despite the outcries. Liberals say they care about gun safety and have a hard on about banning or restricting "Assault Rifles," but this type of firearm is only responsible for 3% or ~300 of the firearm deaths a year. Just a few examples for you.

So yeah, when I say both parties are more or less two sides of the same shitty coin and you try to say otherwise, maybe you can understand why I would think that's silly. Sure, I'll post Twitter stories and I'll poke the bear because it's fun, but at the end of the day both parties are just a sham that gives us the illusion we have representation.

I do think they're hypocritical. I've said my stance previously but I'll repeat it again. I'm trans and I won't vote for a party that doesn't see me as human and goes out of their way to vilify me and others like me. They use a minority part of the trans community to make us seem like a bunch of fucking weirdos. Spoiler they make me uncomfortable as well. I'm sorry if me being critical of a party that makes my out to be a pedophile makes you uncomfortable. But my life is fucking uncomfortable every day because of the way they talk about it me.

Quarantine camps wasn't in the "survey" you referenced, so I guess you came up with your own nifty little term for concentration camp?

I'm really sure a poll commissioned by a Heartland Institute editor really gets the pulse of what Dems think. They would have nooooooo incentive to push the idea that Dems want to jail antivaxxers. I will inquire with Antifa to see what Wyoming republicans truly think lmao.

They are lousy policies. The last 3.5 years haven’t been joy. Hence the hiding the agenda:

Well said! And thank you for putting it into perspective. That's very much why I've 3rd party my whole life. Growing up with a conservative family I was made to believe to only vote Republican and the other side was just as bad. We home politicians accountable by voting, not just by not voting for them but also for voting for someone who can actually defeat/oust them.
You're a third party guy, yet all you do is post about how horrible the Repubs are? I know you've seen and read what the Dems are up to, but that's okay?

I mean, 2020 school shut downs weren't that long ago. Did you already forget that school closings disproportionately affected poor kids and getting these breakfasts you speak of? Who's cities closed schools for the longest? Just asking.

No, that would be you jumping to the worst possible suggestion.

Quarantine camps is a term referenced multiple times during the pandemic. In New York it was used as there was a fear they were going to be implemented as a result of quarantine and isolation provisions from Section 2.13, an order which had it's 90 day period extended multiple times and then later made permanent until a judge struck it down (It is/was under appeal by Letitia James, that may still be ongoing). Hochul has since come out and said that quarantine camps were never their goal.

China had their own quarantine camps setup, no idea if others followed suit:

I'm pretty sure they had quarantine camps setup during the yellow fever outbreaks too, and probably for other diseases.

So, no, I didn't come up with my own nifty term.

Where in that document does it say camp? I tried searching for it. I read another document from NY state saying "congregated quarantine" is part of 2.13.

In any case, we're arguing over semantics? There were no quarantine camps/congregations or anything of the sort. This is invented outrage.

If you google Hochul and quarantine camps you'll find a plethora of connections. As mentioned, ultimately a judge struck down 2.13 and then officials said quarantine camps were never their goal. So again, I didn't come up with the term, and yes we are pretty deep in the weeds at this point because it was just an off comment in a totally separate discussion. No sense dragging the deliberations out.

Agreed - just want to add, I think it's fucking insane policy to have quarantine camps actually setup like they did in China. Not only is it terrible communicable disease policy (mass group of people all together), but politically it's essentially suicide.

Yes, agreed. Journalists called the practice draconian, and you can see why. They were ground zero for the pandemic, and their government did a tremendous job underreporting deaths and infections which didn't tell the full story of how dangerous the early variations of the virus were. To this date we're supposed to believe the country with the greatest population at 1.4 billion only managed to have 5,200 COVID deaths while the US at 330 million had 1.2 million deaths? Ridiculous, and the WHO rolled over and accepted it because China has a grip on them.

For as much as we rag on Western leadership, it's still LEAGUES better than authoritarian states like China etc.

At the end of the day, we enjoy a great amount of freedom of speech that we're allowed to call Biden a human corpse or Trump a rapist. Say that in China/Russia and you're next on the block.

You’ve misread the post. They’re talking about their own opinions regarding Republicans not being popular on this board (due to the predominance of conservatives/Republicans.)
Brings up an interesting point. I have a feeling IE as a whole is probably still dominated by a majority conservatives, but this Politics board in recent months feels somewhat closer to a 50/50 split lately. 4 years ago I don't think that was the case.

I would definitely agree, I think the board in general probably leans conservative and the politics board is split pretty even.

I had to really search high and low for this hilarious narrative...and low and behold....Thomas Sowell! Oh my is that ever perfect. Those darn minorities! lol.

When you've become so enamored with making everything about race you start pushing "duhhh DEI caused the recession" when it's pretty settled fact of what lead to it's cause. Boy, next we'll be hearing about how credit card companies are extremely risk adverse and it was only the feds that made them have predatory lending.
You created that narrative entirely on your own, bud. You had to put the word minorities in my mouth to try and distort the strength of the premise, but most of this board won't fall for that.

Plenty of white people got mortgages too that they shouldn't have. Funny part about risk and real estate...you can take race and ethnicity out of it entirely. It's all about the numbers.
