Seems like this was much todo about nothing? He was 100% definitely totally going to flip to Ole Miss. Now it was Auburn. Almost like these beat reporters need to manufacture clicks.

I thought there were two guys who had close ties with people at Auburn and were guaranteeing his announcement. I would so love if this was all Deuce fucking with the media that makes a living making shit up about teenagers playing a game and the fans who love to over react. Probably not but in this situation no news is good news in my book.

I want to keep the same outlook as wr recruiting, when Cam Williams and Micah Gilbert eventually go nuts on the field. Carr and Grubbs are the future. Deuce was more of a luxury if carr didn't pan out to me. Would've loved him in some specialized packages though. I didn't see him sitting for 2-3 years in this recruiting climate.

The best way to look at it is Carr is QB 1 next year for 2025 if Carr is QB 1 in 2026 Deuce probally transfers

Yes, if Carr hits, Deuce is a luxury who probably skips out as a sophomore anyway. But without Deuce, Carr kinda has to hit.

The portal-every-year thing is just such a roll of the dice. We've had good fortune three out of the last four years but you're probably never getting an elite QB as a one-year-rental, and unless something changes admissions-wise, we're not really in the mix for those top talents who are leaving elite programs as a sophomore because they're stuck behind some other elite talent. It's nice to say nothing matters in this NIL/transfer era but at some point we will need to grow our own.

Notre Dame is special- look at Manti Te'o.

A Notre Dame education means something- look at Jerome Bettis, Kyle Hamilton, Stephon Tuitt, and many others who came back to get their degree.

Notre Dame can land the 5 stars- look at Jimmy Clausen, Jaylon Smith, Michael Floyd

To me Notre Dame is the easiest school to negative recruit against and the recruits bite on the bait that other colleges offer- better NIL packages, promises not kept, and an easier classwork load.

I want Deuce to be apart of this class, I have hope that WR recruiting will get better (Freeman will make sure it does).

If Deuce decommits- ND can/should be able to build around Carr.

For those that posted that winning matters- I agree.

Go Irish!

According to Wiltfong, Deuce likes Hugh Freeze's offense, Auburn's history developing QBs and the WRs they've recruited in the past cycles. I still find it hard to believe that he likes Auburn's development and WRs so much more, this to me is because he decided he wants to stay close to home, which is why ND has almost no chance.

Malik willis, chad Kelly or bo Wallace.. which of those heisman hopefuls... tells me all I need to know

Minchey has 4 years left too…its not Carr or bust if Knight dips, but they couldnt whiff next year.

Wait, Deuce’s brother is Fryfogle? Is there some sort of Indiana connection that I’m now aware of?

Freeman needs to convince Deuce to wait until after the ATM game. Get the kid at the game. Win the game. Have Denbrock put on a show.

Take football out of the game, and think solely of IMMEDIATE economic impact, immediate life changing money. Thinking long term strategy is the opposite of immediate gratification and influences. In this economy, cash is hot. Cash is social media flare. Schools can simply puff up a high school athlete as being able to more than gain long term money based on their skills, but that immediate money hits now.... THEN add school, culture, playing time, location, record.

Even if ND matches whatever money Auburn is fronting, it’s game, set, match. Of course a player, a family isn’t going to say it’s about money. People have pride. The excuses will be about culture, team culture, better fit, etc, everything but cash.

Notice how the best SEC classes usually don’t start coming together until the end. We snag them first and they parlay our exposure to the offers they really want. I’m not sure how to play this moving forward. Don’t accept big recruits until the end is an odd approach.

Notre Dame will always run against the grain at some point. I’m convinced that any big time athletes we get have to (1) really be invested long term beyond football [network, education] (2) run counter culture to what is commonplace, and (3) have strong parental influence. Because the lore of ND is not beating out the SEC nor their bag persuasion (this includes vehicles, jobs for family, etc.), especially not for the majority of southern kids.

The midwest is drab in comparison to all the flash they can get down there, and get it now. Why work a depth chart AND school with no guarantees in a midwest town in a butt cold small (emphasis on small) religious school whose version of getting wild at a game is Sweet Caroline or a Jon Bon Jovi cameo?
😂 Sad, but true. Had to laugh at that one

I like it, but losing Jagusah made me sick. I’m now really starting to worry. Their defensive line is great. We can’t lose that one

It does hurt badly and was borderline a shocking injury. Hope the new LT steps up, but Jagusah will be missed a ton. Just think a dominant LT is needed for this team to win a title and slay the big boys.

I know Alt and Fisher did what was right for them and I don't disagree, but can you imagine this team with those two on it? That is a legit NC contender with those two.

Really just needed to be fisher back. But i'm shocked at how early he went in the draft. We'll see if it pans out long term for him.

Fisher played really well most of the time. He was just always being compared to a guy who turned out to be a top 5 draft pick.
100%. People forget that Fisher was the default starting LT as a freshman until he went down in that first game and Alt rose to the occasion. He didn't end up being as quick as Alt and his pass blocking suffered a bit against better rushers as a result, but he was still very good. In any other year Big Fish could have been a low 1st rounder probably, his biggest sin was having to play opposite a Top 5 pick and constantly get compared to him.

He got absolutely whipped vs Clemson and struggled vs nc state, Duke & Louisville.

Yeah he was a good tackle, but he wasn't close to as good as the first round tackles by grade or statistics. The thought was if he came back he could keep improving to potentially be 1st round level. But he went second round which is completely shocking to me any many others, so it wasn't a bad choice for him.

ISD update from last night says that it feels as if the kid is genuinely torn, he's still talking to the ND staff (they spoke last night), and that the staff isn't giving up.

To me (this wasn't part of the update) it feels like ND is just praying that they can hold onto him until he gets the chance to see Denbrock's offense in action.

Actually, he was statistically in line with a number of 1st round OTs that weren't named Alt or Fashanu. He gave up 3 sacks and 9 hurries last year, which is the same number as some other 1st round Tackles like Latham, Jordan Morgan, and Tyler Guyton, to name a few. Biggest difference for Latham was he played 100 more snaps and was a big time recruit from day 1.

Fisher's numbers weren't bad, they were quite decent actually. While he did get beat a number of times at Clemson (Mostly trying to keep up with a LB they were sending off the edge) he did much better last season than he gets credit for. If there was no Joe Alt last year, Fisher gets more deserving praise. I'm not saying Fish would have been a Top 5 pick or deserved to be there, just saying he would have had more buzz.
