This will be the what 5th yr without long and 3rd without del…. Wr play under them was significantly better than the last 2 years. And with the portal, no excuse for how bad our wr play has been last 2 years.

Long's last two classes would have been Seniors when we faced him at Louisville last season, the leaders of that WR room. Problem is none of them were still around, they all transferred or were moved to defense. Completely whiffed on two back to back classes, can't have that at WR.

Young talent is inexperienced talent. Exceptional players can see the field early, but you can't have all your starters being underclassmen. You need upperclassmen leaders. They make fewer mental mistakes, they're more polished players, and they have the confidence to execute. Too much youth and you run into 2021/2022 issues: Estime fumbles, Merriweather incorrect routes, etc.

Not really that, it's been some heavy passing years but just more TE friendly as opposed to WRs.

Does his recruiting need to be better? Yes absolutely but let’s realistically see what he does as a coach and maybe give him more than one off season to start screaming he needs replaced. Fans are so unrealistic sometimes

Agree it's too early to completely know, but most people thought it was a disappointing hire. So the runway in fans eyes is probably shorter than most would have.

We're hoping he's something that he's never shown the ability to be. Trust but DON'T verify.
