There is some crazy talk in here. Lots of NDNation-type stuff. Gross. When there's bad news all the panic fans live in the limelight and I hate it.

Recruiting has been objectively better under Freeman. Our blue chip ratio has improved by double digits. And our classes now don't have gaping holes in them like Kelly's did. It'll pay off big time starting this season heading forward. Relax and take a breather, preferably away from the keyboard.

Freeman is night and day better than Kelly. Kelly didn’t have to recruit at ND during the NiL ERA when teams were dropping bags left and right knowingly

We never saw Kelly recruit here with NiL.
Who knows where his classes would’ve ranked?

If you realistically thought Meadows was coming here, you played yourself.

If you ignored the smoke about Taylor the first time and thought he was gonna stick, you played yourself.

If any of you thought we were going to go 5/5 on this historic July run, you played yourself.

If you really think our beat at this point is out for anything but clicks, you’ve played yourself.

Hines/Robinson/Faraimo are still probable and would be a great haul.

NOB was and will be a tough pull. It would be a big win for us and it probably is in our best interests if he waits and comes back for a game.

Never get too high or too low in ‘crootin fellas.

worse in game decisions than sending 10 guys onto the field on consecutive plays with a timeout sandwiched between in the biggest game in recent ND history? or suggesting the audric estime should have fallen down at the 1 yd line instead of scoring a TD at the end of the Duke game?

Honestly, yes? His point chasing against Northwestern in 2014 and Clemson in 2015 are both on par. Those were mathematically wrong decisions that lead directly to losses. Then there's the "they're running the veer" loss to Navy.

I'm not disagreeing with the notion that Freeman should be winning more of these recruitments, but I don't care for this revisionist history of BK's gameday prowess. BK basically learned to turtle up, stop being aggressive, and lean on defense after 8 years on the job.

Hows everyone doing this morning?
I'm okay, but my neighbor is pissed. He has had his house invaded by the same raccoon probably half dozen times. They have always done the humane catch and release, but it keeps coming back. It's a shame too, it's a great house. But that coon just messes everything up and it's not subtle once it returns.

Not sure if this is an allegory for scUM/ND or a true story…

where did i say kelly was some gameday god? he for sure had his shortcomings. Freeman being a poor in game coach and Kelly not being great either are not mutually exclusive. i trusted Kelly’s football intelligence more than Freeman but that also comes with 25+ years of head coaching. Hopefully Freeman improves with time.

Agree, I'm mad at myself for getting excited about Meadows prospects too much

I was surprised how consistently confident the ISD group was on Meadows as they're usually pretty conservative so I started drinking the kool-aid

However, Ryan Roberts had been saying no Meadows since all the way back in May and was very adamant about it

NOB I don't think really even knows where he wants to go truly at this point and agree it'd be better if he waited. He seems like one of those impressionable guys who likes whomever he's most recently visited or talked with

Hines maybe a coin flip at this point but doesn't seem like there's been much momentum there

Fariamo and Robinson seem most likely at this point

whole lotta boomers on this board who only sunshine pump and get triggered when anyone dares counter their narrative
Little thin skinned for a lurker who all of a sudden bogs down every thread with their wisdom.
I have no opinions other than trusting this coaching staff and allowing them to coach student athletes that ultimately want to play and receive a quality education at ND. All else will work itself out. I don’t fret nor do I get upset if one sticks or doesn’t.
But you go right ahead and state your opinions as they are yours. People can agree or disagree. I don’t give a rat’s fat ass either way.

So you are saying we probably shouldn’t have fired Kelly????
Not necessarily @you, but so frickin sick of this statement/false equivalency. I mean who really gives af. Kelly is someplace else. And he is a prick there too.
That's filling in a lot of blanks on things I didn't say. I thought Freeman would have recruited at a higher level at this point. It's improved but only slightly.

I still think he can take a step forward this year and this thread is full of overreactions to little to no tangible news, but Freeman is not going to be as good of a game day coach as Kelly was anytime soon. He needs to make up ground elsewhere and recruiting is one of those places. It is reasonable to compare to the previous staff when the fan base's hope is to take another step beyond what they were able to achieve.

Freeman's improved this program in other ways beyond recruiting, but that area needs to continue to improve. I think it will, but it hasn't been completely night and day as we sit here in early July 2024.

Sometimes it’s better to get a new house than replace the carpet. When the house isn’t the one you need.
not at all jumping to that conclusion yet but 2024 is playoffs or bust for me and should be for the program.

All he has to do is have a good season
If I am reading the tea leaves on these two posts correctly, then I am in a real quandary...should I root for ND to lose so this "fan" goes away and starts cheering for a different team?

So Ryan Roberts actually thinks out of Hines, Meadows and Robinson we have the best shot with Hines not Robinson.
He said right now we are the leaders for Hines. Texas is pushing hard for Hines and USC offered him a "huge" nil bag. Both Texas and USC gave Hines a lot to think about but when it's all said and done we are still the leader. If he pushes his commitment any further back it would be bad for us but he likes where we stand today.
Robinson he said right now we have a 50/50 shot verses Washington.
Meadows he actually said the longer the recruitment plays out the better for ND but he didn't sound to optimistic if he wanted to decide today, we are still very much in the mix though.
