Pertaining to the ESPN... "they only play 3 true road games". I get it we aren't playing in their home stadiums, but we play an Atlanta team in Atlanta, a Maryland team in New Jersey, and a New York team in New York. Granted Navy and Army are more national teams then local, but it's still funny to me.

I could be wrong, particularly with the GT game, but I think the neutral site games affects ticket allocation, though. I'd be willing to bet the game in Atlanta has more tickets available to ND fans than if they were playing at Bobby Dodd.

I’m sure you’re right…..Mercedes is much larger than Bobby Dodd.

Since we never play Navy in Annapolis or Army at Michie Stadium I don't know why the media thinks its an issue. Playing both of them in the same year is the issue. Our schedule is pretty easy, I wonder why we didn't grab a tougher game than Army.

The U backing out of the game this year really put us in a bind

If Fisher came back, I'd feel pretty damn good about us running the table in the regular season. This is a very complete ND team and probably the most talented top to bottom since i've been a fan

I thought he needed more work and should have come back, but I can’t argue with anyone leaving that’s a second round pick. Regardless of their quality, losing both tackles is tough. Losing both Alt and Fisher quality tackles…well…you know there will be significant drop off.

Unfortunately, our toughest opponents’ best and elite players are their edge rushers (Texas A&M: Cashius Howell and Nic Scourton; FSU: Patrick Payton; and Louisville: Tyler Baron and Ashton Gillette).

Thankfully we have a mobile quarterback that can step up in the pocket, be elusive and make plays with his feet and arm.

Wish it would have been in Bobby Dodd. That’s a fun little stadium. I’d estimate the Irish will outnumber GT 3:1 at the Falcon’s Stadium

Trust me, there would be plenty of tickets available in Bobby Dodd

Alt was better in pass protection, he had quicker feet, but we shouldn't forget that Fisher was starting ahead of him as a freshmen at LT. Big Fish was a monster run blocker, and he wasn't a slouch as a pass protector although he did get beat in a few games like Clemson. I'm not surprised he went early, and maybe he could have come back and gotten a 1st round grade, but I think he'll do well in the NFL and will end up earning a big contract later. I'm not sure we'll ever see a more dominant Tackle pair than Alt and Fish.

Imo Stanley and big Mike have a very strong case

Good case, but Alt was/is better than Stanley at similar points in their respective careers. Big Mike struggled in pass protection too, especially against Georgia, and he essentially got shipped from the 49ers in part because of performance.

Alt was great. Fisher was pretty mediocre last year. There have multiple pairing of great and solid tackles at ND over the last decade. We'll see plenty more

I think the year before is when Fisher was mediocre. He wasn't elite last year, but I would rate him above average. Dropping some lbs. helped him a lot.

I liked the 2013 tandem of Zach Martin at LT and RS freshman Stanley at RT. From memory it seemed that line overall was very good at pass protection which it needed to be with Rees at QB. Felt it was kind of an overlooked line just because it was a mediocre season for the team overall

Fischer really threw a considerable wrench into this season by going early but it seems to have been a pretty good decision for him in the end. I was very surprised he went so high because he just seemed okay to me his last two years

Pretty mediocre doesn't get you drafted in the 2nd round. He had a few struggles with some better Edge rushers, but overall he was a very good Tackle. It doesn't help when you're constantly compared to a phenom like Alt.

I don't think Fisher benefitted a lot, if any, from dropping his weight.

He got a little bit quicker, but he also wasn't pushing guys around like most expected. It also didn't help with his consistency issues.

While I wouldn't consider Fisher's overall body of work last year as "mediocre", I'd be lying if I said I didn't expect way more out of him in 2023 and it wasn't a disappointing year from his end. I'd say he was slightly above average, but I'll be real, he wasn't taken in the 2nd round over what he showed at ND. He was taken because he has the ceiling to be much better. But if he doesn't start playing with some consistency, he's never going to reach that potential.

There's little chance that Jagusah is going to be able to replicate what Alt was able to do. There's a near certainty that it's going to be a flat downgrade at LT. I'm nowhere near there when it comes to RT, and that's with a general concern about how good Wagner or Baker can be. But at the end of the day, the production at RT from Fisher last year just wasn't all that good. Helps that I expect the interior spots to be a lot better this year than they were for most of last year.

Two MAC home games may be one more than we've ever had. Gonna be tough to fill the house twice for those.
