'18 SC QB Sam Hartman (Notre Dame Transfer)

He was already leaning in that direction as far as draft stock. However, I don’t think he’s done completely yet. If he doesn’t land on a team as a late round sleeper pick, he can parlay his personality into something sports related.

He also made more money last season than he probably will next year (or ever in the NFL). Has a degree from Wake Forest, a natural born leader, etc etc. Sam will be just fine, and did his best for us. No need to drag the guy.

If he had another year of college, I'd take him back. We have a better OC and overall I think our WR's are better (Tyree would fit in with our transfers).

Leonard > Hartman. Leonard is fun to watch. He kinda reminds me of Tebow in a way…athletic, tough, and just makes plays. He seems to be a good kid, too. I hope he crushes it.

Leonard > Hartman. Leonard is fun to watch. He kinda reminds me of Tebow in a way…athletic, tough, and just makes plays. He seems to be a good kid, too. I hope he crushes it.

Definitely a higher ceiling but even his OC at Duke admitted he still has a lot of developing to do. I’m confident Denbrock & Gino can get him developed provided he stays healthy. And yes, I know he‘s not injury-prone just because of last year’s ankle injury since he played the entire 2022 season but he runs…a lot…so the likelihood is higher that he gets banged up.

Sam Hartman hit 15-20 year highs, for a ND QB, in some very important QB statistics this season. Not to mention, Hartman's comp pct, yds/att, ay/a, and QB rating all improved over last season.

The difference is, Leonard will have plays called by a real Offensive Coordinator.

If anyone disappointed in Hartman's performance or the teams. Maybe those should be directed elsewhere. Though I know that won't happen.

Lucky- the bold is perfectly said. If Hartman was coming in this year with Denbrock he would benefit 100% more than he did with Parker.

It also didn't help that a WR on our roster last year couldn't become a #1 target.

I'll always be a Hartman fan and glad that he came to ND.

I agree with some of us. However, Hartman never helped himself when he needed to. He missed wide open receivers, he made some terrible decisions, and was limited and athletic ability and arm strength/accuracy.

Again, everyone knew Parker wasn’t going to be worth a hoot.

Hartman did more for this team off the field and his positive image then I think anyone could have hoped for. That in itself still makes this a positive situation for Hartman and the university.

If Hartman doesn't complete the run on 4th and 16 vs Duke ND loses that game.

I just double checked the coaching staff to make sure I didn’t miss any connection, and don’t see anything.
Kliff Kingsbury offensive scheme for a QB with limited arm strength, I just don’t see it.

Kind of sad how he was still miles ahead of any QB ND had at the time and still wasnt a top shelf QB. You would think of all the NIL that ND had to throw at him that ND was getting a true baller. Dont get me wrong, I appreciate having him over what ND had in the stables at the time because that would have been a real bad season without him but makes you really scratch your head and wonder just why ND's QB recruiting and more importantly, DEVELOPMENT, has been so utterly piss poor.
