To me the question is can Clingan handle the physicality playing against Edey?

If he was 7-0, he'd be the 3rd-4th option cuz he's soft and he doesn't use his length. He's good in college because he's way way WAY bigger than everyone else. Well he's not that much bigger than Clingan and he's no where the athlete Clingan is. I could see Clingan giving Edey all kinds of problems and Purdue needing some help from the refs to get Edey to the line 15+ times.

Edey soft? Not buying it Bobby.

Don't confuse soft with bad in this case. He's a great college player but he's more of a slow, plodding, finesse post. This is not Moses Malone or Shaq. If they were in his body, in this tourney, they'd be averaging triple doubles every night of 45 / 30 & 15 blocks.

A dude his size needs to have more than 1 block in 39 minutes. He occupies a huge space in the middle rebounding and scoring. He’s definitely a plodder, but has a good college post game to pair with his size and while he may be slow, he’s also fairly aggressive to get his.
Clingan’s offensive game is not nearly as developed, but he’s a better athlete and definitely a better shot blocker. Purdue will have trouble matching the athleticism of UCONN. Purdue would need to shoot the ball well.
UConn better not look past Bama. They can score and have some guys who are long athletes that can space spead you out.

I think Purdue can handle NC St.

I likely will end up wrong about everything I just said.

Nah... you're spot on here, at least in theory.

I don't think I am confusing them. As a collegiate player, he's neither bad or soft. No argument that he's not very athletic, but it's a silly comparison as you could also say if he had eithers athleticism, he'd be averaging 45/30/15. I've said before he's not built for the NBA.

No doubt Clingan is more athletic which is why he's a better shot blocker. Given how much he means to the offense, I wonder how much of Edey's shot blocking is more by design to keep him out of foul trouble? The block against Knecht was pretty good as he stayed with him down the lane and maintained space to avoid the foul. Knecht has a hot mom.

Hoping Alabama can give UConn a game. Oats has done a very good job with that team.
I'm going to avoid being a starry-eyed homer. My boys have earned their wins and have a good team, but we're not in UCONN's league. Doesn't mean we can't beat them, but we'll need to get hot and stay hot almost all game long. If we're dropping threes and feeling confident, we can beat anyone, but it's going to take a minor miracle and UCONN being flat with us on fire. As for Oats, he can walk on water right now in Tuscaloosa. We have the coach the old prophesies spoke of and that we've waited so long for! :)

The two women's games last night lived up to the billing. Caitlyn Clark is absolutely hilarious. Makes me wonder how Iowa managed to lose any games at all this season, though I can say the same for The UConn men's team too.

I have Alabama beating UConn and meeting Purdue in the final. If Bama wins, it doesn't matter what Purdue does, I win the office pool. There were a lot of UNC and UConn brackets. Bama beating UNC cut half the field out. I need them one more time.

Roll Hoops Tide.

You had Bama beating UConn in your pre-tourney bracket???

Alabama will have to shoot their best ever to beat UConn. I can see it staying competitive for a little while, but UConn pulls away in the 2nd and wins by double digits.

Purdue - NC State is much more intriguing to me. How can DJ Burns match up against Edey? Just from Edey’s tournament performance and sheer height advantage, you’d think he’d out perform Burns. That said, I hate Purdue and had them losing to Gonzaga in my bracket. What do I know? And I’m loving this 1983esque NC State run.

Anybody but Purdue. The fact that those assholes can’t see that Edey’s Shrek ass benefits from every whistle is nauseating.

Stephen A sort of called Clark out before the game and said she needed to do more than just show up given the loss to LSU last year. Well, she did a lot more than just show up. Dang, she put on a show and just rained 3s on LSU. They just didn't have an answer. She's fun to watch and absolutely an assassin.

I hope you're right about Bama-UCONN.

I enjoyed Clark's passing a bit more than her going 9 for 20 from three. Everyone that has seen her play for five minutes and hasn't been living under a rock for the last 12 months knows she can shoot. I was surprised at her assisting ability and impressed at how she's involved when she isn't scoring.

Wife and daughter already have the family pool locked up with NC State making the Final Four. One picked UConn and the other picked Purdue to go all the way - smh.

He gets hacked and/or fouled pretty much every time he touches the ball down low…….especially if he brings the ball down it’s a free for all for the other team slapping down at the ball. His arms are red and scratched up for a reason 🤣

That's why I posted that pic. They could call a foul almost every time he touches the ball.

Sycamores are proving they should have been in the NCAA instead of the NIT. Their fans turned Hinkle into Hulman Center East last night.
