Maybe Marcus wants to use Kirby's formula of signing a 3* GA WR to win a natty?

I didn't know JBJ runs sub 4.4?? 😉

Actually he's already on our roster. McC reminds me alot of Faison. Similar do it all hs player with production.

What a fun player to watch even if it was for the dawgs

Front page for bettis jr shows what a wr looks like that runs a 4.7 at best if you’re curious
My former neighbor ran a 4.7 at the combine, racked up @15,000 rec yds and a bunch of Pro Bowls.

Imagine how much slower he was 5 years earlier.

Fair point BMac, but that 4.12 sh he put up was smoldering.

OK, great post. Since now we have visual confirmation he's not a stiff and has some #'s to back it up, I'll flip the script and use the other angle so commonly used by the... experts:

bUt BUt bUT... Two weeks before NSD, his offer list was Army, Bucknell, Furman, GaSo, KenSt, Kent St, Mercer + W&M

There was a reason no P5 team offered him. Offers like this is why Georgia doesn't win natty's!

Dominik Hulak must be missing the Furman offer

Truth! 😂You know I'm a pro-union guy, Cap!

And by pro-union, I mean production.

I love 1 in a billion examples

ONE in a billion???

How many Pro Bowls did Jerry Rice and Jarvis Landry go to combined?

Would you have been equally as disappointed had ND taken a commitment from David Bell as a Jr? With 4 years of S&C all he could run was a 4.65 or did his production in HS render that 4.7-something HS 40 meaningless?

How many players with 4.6+ 40's will we find if we dig? Now, let's go back 4-6 years earlier to their Jr years of HS and see where they were before they learned how to run the 40 and received years of professional speed training.

Plus, I never saw the link for JBJ's 40. Could you post that? I need to project how much he'll improve over the next 5-6 yrs for the Combine.

I don’t pretend to be qualified to evaluate recruits based on film but I do see offers from A&M, Ole Miss and a bunch of other P5s. He might not be elite but that - plus the family connection - seems fine enough for a third or fourth WR in this class?
We have certainly taken bigger flyers than this one.

Notre Dame just completely overhauled its WR room in one offseason and now has a few guys who could really impact the team. They’ll get more next season if they need to with Thomas and Colzie leaving. It’s a whole new world and they seem like they’ve stopped being stupid about WR portal recruiting.

I don’t know that I see it, but JBJ is a flyer and a thank you to a really important alum. It’s a good vibes offer. If Bettis Jr. can’t play, then he’ll sit the bench, get a degree and be gone in three years. I’m not overly concerned.

Every school takes players like this not everyone is a 5 star high 4 star. You need special teams players you need guys who will be here for 4 years with a chance to grow and develop

We don’t go from the shitshow that DelVaughn and Chansi left us with to an OSU-caliber WR room overnight. Most programs take a player or two of JBJ’s caliber - for depth, special teams, etc. Not to mention the impact his dad might continue to have on the program.

This isn’t the same as when we had Bon Jovi on the roster - Bettis has NFL pedigree and might legitimately produce.

Unless we’re giving him the spot of someone who is way better, I think some of us need to pump the breaks and accept that we should take whatever volume we can at a position of need.

Landry ran 4.51… Jerry rice was reported to be sub 4.5 by his nfl coaches .. all other times are rumors

The link for jbjs 40 is on his front page where he looks like a wr that would struggle to start for most top HS teams

Landry ran what he ran. You can find it on film from the draft. Was he banged up? Yes. Did any one believe the hand timed, con job 4.51 from his pro day? No. That's why 11 other WR's went before him at #63. No one accused him of being a burner and he did nothing but produce in college and the NFL.

Anyways, my sources say he ran a 4.7 in HS so now what?
