We wouldn't know who the best teams are then.

If FSU had Travis, then they should be in, but they don't. It sucks, but that's the harsh reality.

If we cancel the regular season, FSU doesn't even get a shot at the playoff in the first place.
imagine how history would be different if the NFL acted this way. “If New England had Bledsoe then they would be in, but they don’t, they have some Brady kid. It sucks but that’s the harsh reality.

Big whoop. Their big wins are against LSU, Louisville and Clemson. The rest of their schedule is a joke.

Alabama beat Georgia, Ole Miss, LSU and Tennessee, all of which are better wins than Louisville or Clemson.

WHYDFML is a factor as well.

Oh shit, you’ve convinced me. Some guy named SEC Chuck and another who writes for AL.com think the SEC teams should be in the playoff. Just flip a fucking coin between Bama and Georgia to see who gets the NC trophy. We can wrap this season up tomorrow and get back to the portal.

The difference is obvious. The NFL has a specific system that determines playoff teams while college subjectively picks them. To my understanding, they can consider the injury and how it impacts the team. They're not a top 4 team without their QB. I wouldn't be happy about it if it happened to ND but really don't care about FSU so I'll take the team most likely to beat scUM.

We just need a 30-50 team super conference/League. With a Div 2 style playoff.

Maybe they will piss everyone off and put Liberty in

Will they choose the four best ... or most deserving? "It is best," CFP executive director Bill Hancock said on Tuesday. "Most deserving is not anything in the committee's lexicon. They are to rank the best teams in order, and that's what they do. Just keep that word in mind, best teams."

With FSU’s impressive defense, I think they let them in despite the uncertainty of QB play. If the 2nd string QB played tonight and they only put up 13 points, the decision would maybe be different. I just don’t see how they keep them out.

Other spot is either Texas or Bama. I could see it going either way…. with one very pissed fan base. Especially 5 months from now when the hammer drops on Michigan.

In 1 year when the NCAA finally vacates UM wins and 2023 season the first team out should file a class action suit against UM.

FSU's 2nd string QB threw for 134 yards on 12/25 and they had 224 yards total against 5-7 Florida.

The same Florida that got blown out 43-20 by Georgia, whom Alabama just beat.

No final 4 selection is going to fully make sense and the committee has their hands full with the nightmare scenario they thought they would never get (and why they are going to a 12-team playoff next year) but here it is in the final year of the 4-team play format - Oh the poetic justice. The 12-team will be a much better format to capture the best team in CF each year (although I'm sure there'll still be arguments over team 11 through 14, etc.). The other important factor for the current format that the 12-team format also will help address is the long 4-week (was 5+ weeks for the old BCS 2-team playoff) time off that each team gets. For the 12-team format, playoffs start within 3 weeks and there's a bigger gauntlet of games to go through to win it all. So, as you're all making the assessment that FSU is not in the same league as the others, I think you have to remember this important factor. We're all dissing FSU but maybe Rodemaker gets healthy and with such a long time to scheme and prepare, they're a much different and better team in a month; it truly does become a whole new, different season in many ways that's hard to predict how teams will play then vs now, so you do truly have to look at the entire season, although yes, how you're trending now is important, but again, now they get 4 weeks off which is a long time. So before you have the committee write off FSU, just maybe they have shown enough to be given an opportunity and the potential to be a much better team in the playoff. Not saying this with certainty, but you don't know. Same of course for GA for sure. Thankfully, these issues all go away next year. For the years with a Burrow-led LSU or Lawrence-led Clemson team that were clear front runners, this stuff doesn't matter as much, but I always think if there was a 12-team format back in 2002, USC under Carroll and with Carson Palmer at QB, could definitely have been a 2-loss team that could have won the whole thing that year. I also remember the 2017 Alabama team that lost to GA in the SEC Championship game but made it to the 4-team playoff nonetheless. I remember thinking how is it fair that Saban and AL get an extra week on top of an already long month to rest up and prepare for the CF Playoff? And of course, they won the 2018 CF Championship! Just something to think about in this last year of the 4-team playoff format. I certainly don't envy the committee's job this year.

That’s really not true though. If the guy on Bama catches that ball against Auburn (4th and 31) and his toe is barely out of bounds, then we’re not having this conversation. Bama could have beat Georgia by 30 yesterday and nobody would be saying they should get in. Results matter. Losses matter. Eye test is bullshit.

#1 NCAA is not going to have a playoff without ESPN’s team in there.

#2 if head to head matters Bama can’t jump Texas since they already beat them once. And you can say Bama is better but so is Texas since the first game.

You have 3 undefeated P5 conference champs that are in.

Texas and Alabama are simply fighting for the 4th spot. Luckily for the committee, that game was already played and Texas won by 10 in Tuscaloosa. Texas already earned it on the field. This is as simple as it can get for the committee.

The committee has nothing to explain because they are using actual objective results from the games played.

To the SEC, you’re sitting this one out this year. Now go take a lap.

Bama needed a mini Hail Mary last week to beat a shitty Auburn team. Literally last week.
Hey, but they’re playing better than Texas right now :sneaky: (Just conveniently ignore the 10 point loss, at home, to Texas, and the muffed punt + Hail Mary needed in Alabama’s final regular season game needed to beat an Auburn team that was just eviscerated by New Mexico State)

Sounds like you are making a case for Liberty who blasted New Mexico State… 😉 😆

The debate is Bama vs. FSU right? It's weird the odds have FSU over Texas if they're actually choosing the four best teams

FSU is in. Hell, it’s impressive they’re still winning these game with their second and third string quarterbacks.

Would be funny if they put Bama in over FSU because of the injured quarterback and then Milroe has a season ending injury in practice. Would they then give it back to FSU because we saw what a shitshow Bama’s offense looked like with their backups?

People obsess over "undefeated" too much IMO. The difference between 12-1 and 13-0 is so small, there's always swing games that go either way.

Bama is in, they just beat a #1 ranked team that hasn't lost since Trump was in office. It's just a matter of if the committee then feels the need to put Texas in as well. FSU shouldn't be in, winning a crap conference with the worst QB outside of Iowa isn't playoff worthy.

The difference is that one team lost and another team didn’t.

Bama sucked this year. They got smoked by Texas, looked like complete ass against shitty schools like USF, and we’re actually gifted a miraculous win versus an ass Auburn team last week. Meanwhile, FSU took care of business all year and, even last night, won by ten over a ranked opponent with their scout QB. This isn’t a debate.

Yeah, OT win vs Clemson who outplayed them in all stats, 2 point win over BC, and those are with their stud QB... Everyone has ugly wins. They're awful on offense now, it's Iowa 2.0.

If FSU is in, congratulate UM on their title. A cakewalk season where they played 1 team with elite talent.
