If Riley Leonard is coming ..... what implication does that have concerning the current ND transfer policy? I've seen nothing to indicate that Leonard will be a grad transfer. ND's policy has been that they will only accept undergrad transfers if they can still graduate in the original 4 year window. It's virtually impossible for an incoming Junior to get admitted to ND as a transfer. I think up to this point, it has been unfathomable that a rising Senior could transfer into ND. I'm guessing that there has never been anyone that has been admitted as an incoming Senior (athletic or non-athletic).

247 profile says Leonard was not an EE. Would seem virtually impossible for him to graduate in December. More likely, he might be able to graduate in May. But that would mean he misses the spring with the team.
Is that really a rule that ND imposed on itself? If so as an outsider I say this, what a bunch of wankers. ND football should schism from the school.

This was already explained in this thread, but no, that is not an ND rule. We've taken undergrad transfers before (Alohi, Amir Carlisle) but it doesn't happen often because ND makes it hard to transfer credits in from other schools. That hasn't changed. Leonard is from Duke. His credits will transfer to ND so it won't be difficult to get him past admissions as a non-grad transfer.

The one thing that has changed is the admin has told the staff within the past year that they can now also pursue Freshman transfers and will make it easier for them to get admitted because they potentially have 3 full years to earn an ND degree. So, as of now, the ND transfer rule is as follows:

  • Grad transfers are allowed with no restrictions
  • Undergrad transfers are allowed as long as credits from the previous school will transfer to ND (admissions make that determination)
  • Freshman transfers are allowed with no restrictions
Prior to this year, the last category was not included so the admin has relaxed their policy somewhat. Recently, MF has noted he's working with the admin to relax the undergrad transfer rule so, hopefully, that gets changed and ND can consider an even larger pool of candidates in the transfer portal in the future.

I'm not sure if TVD beats Angeli at all.
If it does end up being TVD, I would think that's a different conversation and situation, altogether. He's likely competing with Angeli and Minchey for the chance to start. Leonard and Howard are the guys you bring in to give the job too.

At least, that's what I would hope, lol

Driskell board saying it's either Leonard or TVD from Miami.
The nice thing about bringing in a guy like KJ Jefferson or TVD in is it would immediately murder all of my expectations for ND football for a good year or so. I would have so much free time.
