My guess is Tom Allen will be back at IU for at least one more year. His buyout is $20M and IU isn’t known for doing crazy things like some schools. If they do cut him loose, his replacement won’t be a splashy hire.

Chuck Martin or candle to Indiana?
I would like Candle to hold out for a better job, unless he can secure the same kind of buyout that Allen got. Indiana is a tough job, pretty much a career killer.

Not disagreeing with that at all.... How are the divisions going to align next year with the PAC 12 teams invading

Big10ish will be going division free. All teams but PSU have one to two protected games. PSU didn’t protect any of their “rivalry” games.

Elko at A&M would be a really tough hire. Our season opener next year would be that much harder but the following year would have me even more worried. He creates disciplined teams.

Kevin Wilson had IU at about as high of a level as they can get to. Perennial bowl contender, outside shot at an 8-9 win season.

I actually think them blowing up the divisions in the B1G helps IU because they won’t have to play UM/PSU/OSU every year.

Wilson’s best record was 6-7. Allen had two years better than that.

The issue was that the real engine behind those best seasons is now leading Washington to a 12-0 record.

I mean they went to back to back bowl games and had chances to win 8 in each of those seasons.

Allen went from making a great OC hire to a couple of poor ones and as a defensive guy, he couldn’t overcome that. IU really needs an offensive guy at HC. Purdue does too—I was surprised they went with Walters last hiring cycle.

Yeah, I think a school in their position needs something gimmicky to attract attention. Boring, mediocre football isn’t going to do anything for them. They should aspire to weird, mediocre football and get some eyeballs.

Agreed. B1G is lacking in offensive firepower pretty much everywhere.

All though Ohio State is rather plug n play at this point I am curious to see what kind of fall out this lose to Michigan has. Will any of those assistants be ripe for the picking?

Tony Alford? But I highly doubt he‘s in the mood for another lateral move at this point. He’s been wanting an OC gig but has maybe settled in at OSU. Great human being & coach.

Lol sometimes bad things happen to good people. But buy out wise shoulda waited a year, waste of money. They went 3-9 next year best case they go 5-7 is that worth $20 million wasted as opposed to wait a year put that $20 million into new staff and or facilities. IU football stepping on their own dick and not smart enough to take the cleats off first.

Strange times we live in! Boise State fired their coach during the season yet are still playing in the Mountain West championship game.
