I have Xfinity for now (looking to switch to AT&T’s Fiber). I added their add on “Sports Package” for $10.99/month to get this game / PAC 12 Network. I’ll simply cancel it immediately after.

Where are you located? I'm wondering if it's not carried in Southern Indiana.
They offer three different packages. I didn’t see it on the cheapest package but it’s on the middle priced package.

Does Stanford have any “dudes” (said in a Bryan Driskell voice)?

I’ve only seen them play once this year (Colorado game). They had a WR that just went off on CU — nearly 300 yards receiving and a few TDs. I haven’t heard too much from him since, and no one else really stood out that game.

Do they have any notable matchup advantages over ND (other than their D Coordinator vs GP)?
Their boundary WR is a freak. ND offered but didn’t pursue. Their QB is athletic but not a great passer reportedly.

According to Jamie U, they don’t have any guys on defense who are currently game wreckers but likely have some young dudes who will be solid in a few years.

Bottom line for us that don’t know much about Stanford is that their HC, Troy Taylor; is a better coach than Shaw and should not be taken lightly.

It’s Stanford’s bowl game
It’s a road game
ND struggles on the road regardless of opponent
ND will likely not take them seriously until the game starts (Which is totally rational regardless of how staff tries to fire ND up)

It makes me a little sad you know what the sound of his voice is like.

David Bailey is a really good player and FWIW, their kicker is one of the best in the country.

I'm nervous because I have lost all faith in Freeman and his friend Gerry.

I'm surprised he even spoke to BK. It ain't like Kelly was known for being hands on for even important defensive recruitments
lol i think Angeli was one recruit who said he never even met Bk or spoke to him until he was ready to commit to ND

How in the world was BK as successful as he was for so long
From what I remember the Angeli situation was even more bizarre in that he had told all the other coaches/recruiting staff he wanted to commit he just wanted to have a few words with BK first but the actual commitment was delayed because BK kept him hanging for a few days until he actually called him back

I choose to remember BK always having 11 men on the field.
And going to two CFPs & a BCS title game.

Dude could coach.

No one is denying that. I think MF succeeding him naturally draws unfair comparisons. But to think BK was perfect despite 25+ years in coaching is recency bias at its peak. And to clarify my opinion of BK, he is undoubtedly a CFB Hall-of-Famer & credited w/ pulling the ND program out of the ditch that the previous 3 HC & 2 AD ran it into.

At Freeman's age, BK was coaching a 8-3 D2 team. If Marcus continues to grow, he can be the face of your program for 20-30 years. That's the bet.

Freeman took over a top 5 program at the time.
BK built every team he coached, starting at D3, then D2, then MAC, then P5, then ND.
BK could develop & coach.
Freeman is a recruiter & motivational speaker, that screws up gameday.
See Franklin at PSU. That’s Freeman’s future.

So with the expanded playoff a pretty consistent championship contender?

Glutton for punishment, I guess.

Until recently, I faced a daily commute to/from The Woodlands to Houston’s inner loop. I’m not interested in local sports radio (Rockets, Stros, Texans), and I could always count on Driskell producing 3, 5 hour long podcast / episodes a day. It helps sprinkling it in with other shows and music.

Kelly was 5-6 against Stanford and one of his five wins had to be vacated.

Freeman can get to 1-1 against Stanford this weekend and I have to sign up for some weird ass streaming service I'm never going to watch again to see it.

I care about getting to 1-1 vs Stanford in this era first, the streaming service a distant second, then anything Brian Kelly ever did or is going to do dead last.

I want ND to win as much as everybody.

I just have had reservations about Freeman’s gameday decisions since the Okie St Bowl Game.
Lucci has the same concerns as me.

And it’s not experience level decisions.
It’s bad decisions a HS JV coach doesn’t make. I think Freeman gets lost during the game.
