I don't get how this take is even close to going out on a limb. It's a loaded class, but Williams is showing why he is among the best in said loaded class.

His combination of speed, athleticism and ability to change direction all while having the length to make contested catches with a wider catch radius, it's all top level.

Also, really don't get the whole competition argument. Glenbard isn't Texas or Florida, okay. It's not Montana or Rhode Island either. It's solid competition and really who cares? If the film shows his ability to run excellent routes, speed past guys and adjust to the ball, that's what matters. Most players are going to have to adjust to a massive jump in competition.

Crazy - Cam is one of the best in the class. He is just not the best receiver. I think he a Top 30 recruit but to say he is the best receiver in this class is just being over romanced by our own fandom.

Cam Williams COULD be the best wr in HS and has the talent where it’s not out of reach he could be best in college at some point…. We haven’t been able to say that about recruit since Floyd… every wr since then clearly wasn’t in the top echelon. Fuller and claypool developed into dynamic insane college wrs but weren’t that in HS, and still had major flaws in college.

It's not over-romancing to think that.

Personally, going into this season, I had Cam behind Jeremiah Smith and Cam Coleman.

His senior film so far is having him climb up those rankings. I'd say he's closer to top 15 overall than top 30. He is ELITE.

I'd say he's the third receiver in this loaded class, but at worst top 5-6.

Agreed but he is not the best - I have him at 5/6 best receiver. He certainly is better than Top 10 WR as On3 has him. He also might be a better baller than CJ Carr. He should also be give a crack as a returner too.

Nazareth held him to 2 catches for 45 yards in his last HS game. As Cam went, so went Glenbard South.

Really the only question mark about him is the competition level, which was not great — other than that he checks all the boxes.

"Experts" can weigh in but my impression is Williams is playing tougher competition than Tobias did.

No. He carried his high school team. He has the offers. Nazareth won state last year, they're well coached and typically have talent that can match up with the dudes like him. I don't know of any other D1 players at Glenbard South.

This is fair. They beat South Elgin 14-13, lost to Glenbard East and Nazareth. Those are the three best squads they faced. As an individual talent, Cam is a four star player. He could start anywhere in Illinois, including East St. Louis. The issue he faced was when GBS faced teams of equal or superior levels, those teams could key in on him easier than the bad opponents could.

I can't weigh in on that, but all I would say is I'm curious to see what the Glenbard South program looks like in the next couple of years now that Cam is gone. I think they've built around him and he's carried them to 2-4 more wins while on varsity than they have been used to.

He is more athletic than any wr on our roster, closest would be faison … tyree has great burst but is very stiff
