Yeah just as concerning as the drop is both nd wrs looking like they didn’t want to block on that play … the navy defender got by both nd wrs
I’m with you, I can’t understand why they didn’t play with perfection. ND was really fortunate to squeak by their first opponent of 2023.

I’m going to just go ahead and say it. It’s better that Tobias dropped that screen. He was going to get tackled for a loss. Heads up play on his part and great coaching by Stuckey.
Interestingly enough, I believe it was Payne that bobbled a screen, only to corral it last minute and get tackled for a loss. I thought to myself, now would be a good time for an intentional drop.

I need to see more from him quickly. I don't think it was a coincidence that Flores and Greathouse saw the field quickly. Parker and Freeman are going to be put the most productive guys in, class doesn't matter. Merriweather has yet to produce anything notable, other than 1 nice play from '22. He needs to produce and soon. Too many talented kids behind him who deserve a shot, before the schedule gets tough. Not ready to give up on him, but eventually need to see production. Know he has the talent.

You are correct about this and I think it’s especially true for WRs. It’s why guys like Tate and Stepherson were so good despite not having obvious physical traits. It’s what we all see in Greathouse. Jaden Thomas has it, to some degree.
But it’s way too soon to know whether Tobias does/does not have those qualities.
Styles had it as a freshman but lost it as a sophomore. It’s probably more confidence than a trait of its own.

Greathouse has the confidence factor. Dude expects the ball and gets it. His production potential is unreal. Styles had little confidence. Merriweather hasn't shown much confidence yet either. Need to get the confidence.

I said Kiser isn't great, neither is JD, and thus far Merriweather plays soft and has weak hands. That's it.

And I'd be happy to see all of those change but right now reality upsets some of the fluffers. I'm here cheering for ND, but I am not blind to weak spots. So I hope you get what you think is a teabag party, it'll mean someone took it up a level from what they've shown so far.
Really, that's all you said? If I have any free time and am feeling particularly malicious, I'll go dig out some of your gems and put em on display.

As for Kiser and JD, I'd so both played pretty great yesterday, especially JD. Kiser looked good even if it didn't show up on the statline. You don't hold Navy under 150 rushing yards for a game if you don't have great LB play: it's simply impossible.

I'll add to your HW that I am not convinced Sam Hartman is making millions in NIL.

You'll also find I don't unsult people.

You do you boo boo, go nutz.

Kiser DID show up in the statline, he led the team in tackles.

I kinda thought Tobias meant to drop it....but i was drunk. As long as they know its a forward pass and are going to get smashed for a loss, better off dropping it. Issue is, if it is for a loss it could be a lateral.

I believe TM led the WR in snap counts so I doubt the staff is losing any confidence. My guess, is they will game plan for him in a week or two and he will blow up. This game was a balanced game trying to control the clock.

Thomas led the WR snap counts by a small amount over Merriweather.

Snap counts definitely favored the WR’s that are better run blockers. Flores got twice the snaps of Greathouse which came as a bit of a surprise. Merriweather did seem to do a good job run blocking.

Notre Dame vs. Navy snap counts, participation chart: Offense

Speaking of Greathouse, he and junior receiver Deion Colzie played much less than I thought either did. Notre Dame seems to like freshman Rico Flores Jr. and graduate student Matt Salerno much more as run blockers than Greathouse or Colzie.

Seriously man? Kiser led the team in tackles on Saturday. It’s fucking Navy! Theres nothing normal or easy about defending it. So give it a rest. JD is, and will be just fine (he’ll probably lead the team in tackles by the end of the year). You need to stop getting hung up on every little detail. I don’t understand the constant barrage of shitty takes? WE HAVE WHO WE HAVE. Go join IHATEND.com where there’s probably plenty just like you, or shut your mouth and enjoy your team!

Yes, those are seriously my stances. Tackles are a half-stat to use for LBs who almost always lead their teams in tackles. None of this had to do with Navy, these were my "hot takes" prior to the game.

TFL, pressures, sacks - more important.

But yes, I stand by those stances and if that bothers anyone that I don't think JD or Kiser are great, here's a quarter.

I would politely offer you to take that quarter and shove it in your ass. And if that bothers you, pull it back out and swallow it.

I stand by this stance. WhateverTF that means.

It doesn’t bother me or many others because we realize you have no football knowledge so it’s the equivalent of me talking cricket.
You just like to argue.

It clearly bothers some, but I have no problem with you (and others) thinking JD and Kiser are great football players.

And when those 2 start making TFL and getting pressures you’ll bitch because they weren’t 5 stars coming out of HS. Trolls will troll.

.... analyses would be more impressive if they took into account the defensive scheme employed during the game. Not doing this, any comment about how bad someone was strikes me as ignorant crap. Very close to ignore-worthy. I REALLY hate the shallowness of eyeball follow-the-ball-only bullshit.

Are Flores & Greathouse just that good or is TM not getting separation?

If he can become a reliable target this offense could get crazy..

I think it's becoming clear Sam has seen enough and TM isn't high on his pecking order. TM is at the top of snaps... Has 6 yards in 4 targets this season.

I would be surprised if he tops 100 yards this season. Doesn’t have it

I suspect they are holding him and his part of the playbook back for the bigger games. I don't really think ND has thrown a deep pass yet this season.

They literally did. To him. And he misplayed it, albeit a ball Hartman would like back.
