Rees tried to blue steel Hartman? I'm not sure I could have resisted.

For the most part I couldn’t care less about Rees/TB8 at this point, but I am a little excited to have more of a vested interest in watching Bama/SEC games this fall.

I think TB is who he is, even with limited reps. He’s going to have better weapons around him, sure— but he’s also going to be facing SEC caliber defenses 9 weeks a season. Think about his performance vs SCeast last year—that was the 11th ranked defense in the SEC.

It’s a fun storyline for when ND isn’t on my tv, nothing more.

Stetson Bennett was a very, very good college QB who ran Monken's offense perfectly. Was also clocked throwing the ball with a higher velocity than Anthony Richardson at the combine.

Yeah. I don’t know how you could watch SN and not conclude he has some talent. He had really good talent around him, no doubt, but he was not a weak link.

There are no guarantees that translates to the NFL, especially as small as he is. But he was definitely a very good college QB.

Rees & Buchner are Saban's problem. How long of a leash are they on?

I cannot see Buchner starting and having "packages" like he did at ND. He didn't impress me much at ND and if Coan had an additional year after 2021 I would've invited him back.

I think Simpson wins the QB battle.

Bama will have a QB or 2 in the portal after this season.

Based purely off those videos #15 looks the best from a purely throws prospective. But that is from a couple of shorts videos.

“Buchner was the third QB through the rotation and as Saban noted Thursday, is still learning the offense.”

“A few of us in the press box remarked about Buchner's throwing motion. It's a little different than the others, and his ball seems to come out with a lower trajectory/downward tilt. He also appeared to throw sidearm on the run at one point.”

Doesn’t know the offense?????

It is Saban’s offense, after all. I’m sure Tommy is already peppering his flavor into it, but I’m sure it’s a big adjustment for Buchner regardless.

Tommy probably got the job because he was able to learn the foundations of Bama’s offense during his interview. He really is a football genius.

Buchner probably had no idea what he was getting into lol

Sabans a defensive guy. He doesn’t have “an offense”

Yeah he wants to run the ball down your throat, but so does Tommy.

Buchner's throwing motion sucks? You don't say.

Not great mechanics IMO, and I've been a Buchner supporter through and through. Not sure why he's delivering the ball falling away from the receiver instead of keeping forward momentum towards the WR.
#8's reps look like a high schooler back there. There's very little to like about what he's doing from being so bouncy and nervous to bad and slow release points.

I just don't get it, if you look at his HS stuff and a piece Loy did, his motion was great, over the top, quick nice release point ect. Then he goes to that "guru" and looks like Uncle Rico? No way he is doubling down by sticking with that motion... makes no sense

There's been a slight tilt towards the thought that the best QB's are former short stops based on the belief that they are used to releasing from odd angles.

Obviously Mahomes is the key example that they use of odd angles.

If this guru follows that thought process it makes sense.

I think both schools are true.
  1. For most people, proper mechanics are the best/only way to be consistently accurate.
  2. For the elite few, they can be accurate in improvised ways.
But the idea that you can teach that ability to improv is dubious.

I don't think it's the product of a fad. He had a long release and is trying to shorten it up. He was always a little shot-put-y.

I don't think his form is bad; it's his decision making.

Saw this earlier today. How are you gonna have a dude be a top transfer when a transfer took his job? Not saying Buchner doesn't belong, that's not up to me, but Hartman should definitely be on the list. Probably a troll post, but whateva.

That’s a terrible list ha ha. Compare that to 24/7’s
