Was never in a frat, but up here my hockey teams followed ABN (anything but needles) and no pants off. Alcohol poisoning was the norm but we never had the urge to hump each other. Knew of some teams that did some pants off stuff, but it would get corrected pretty quickly after chirping them on the ice.
We didn't do hazing really in high school, assuming this is upperclassmen harassing underclassmen. We did some iffy things but even as an underclassmen it never really bothered me too much.

But...Fitzgerald gone!

Wow. Brutal timing for something like this, good luck finding a coach right now to step into what’s a tough job under good circumstances.
But yeah no way Fitz survived what came out in the last day or two.

You forgot about Ohio State and Gym Jordan and the wrestling team.
I'd be skeptical of this without further investigation. Regardless of political affiliation, that story has been going around for years and if valid would sink a house rep. The mainstream media would go rather deep into it.

Probably an interim and then a new HC in the off-season. My guess: Tommy Rees takes it

If Rees does well at Bama this season, all involved could do worse.

The trouble with an interim who’s there now is really the whole staff would be implicated in this, at some level.

Well hey look, the Northwestern scandal managed to somehow GET WORSE. Some pretty awful allegations of racism here.

“There was a certain culture of enabling ... microaggressions that I had to experience,” the second player said.

We are doomed as a society that we take seriously the opinions of people who unironically use the term "microaggression."

Tommy Rees is going to have to be vetted like no tomorrow if he's going to be hired there. He was a part of that program for one season as a GA.

I know everyone's just joking around but I cannot imagine that Rees would actually accept that job. Yes it's good to be a HC but is your goal to get paid and hang out in Chicago or be an NFL OC?

The second this broke I knew the NW journalist would turn this into a "what courage we have to report on our own Alma mater" masturbatory exercise.
Dan Bernstein went to Duke.

I don't understand the hardon for NU journalists here. Can someone explain it to me please. Some sort of "they all hate ND" thing or something?

This is a very fair point. After Ara, nobody was a winner there until Parseghian.

Why Rees would want this to be his first HC job and have to do all of the clean up is beyond me. It's a mad rush to conclusion within literal minutes of Fitzgerald being let go. Maybe pump the breaks on that theory a bit. They probably want to consider making a hire similar to what Stanford just did.

Good call out. My mistake. Seeing it from Stewart Mandell and figured this guy was in on the schtick as well.

Man their '24 class sucks. Not a single guy I think we'd even look at. maybe Jamir Benjamin but he's like the opposite of what Freeman / Mickens like in their CBs.

Dan Bernstein was at Duke when Coach K first got there. While everyone thought he was a national treasure after he won back to back titles in 91 and 92, Bernstein was telling listeners back then what a prick the guy was when nobody was around. Especially to the campus journalists over the years.

When the 1999 sexual assault allegation came up in 2019, none of it surprised people like Bernstein who were around Duke in the pre-internet era who experienced Coach K and what he was like when the national media wasn't around.

It’s the most demeaning thing they can think of.

Well that and because football locker rooms, like all hyper macho environments, can get incredibly homoerotic. But obviously there is a line, and dick jokes and even slapping asses are on one side of that line, and I think forcing players to strip naked and do naked activities with other naked players geared towards sexual humiliation are on another side of that line.
