Not what he needs on the heels of being 4-20 in the post Covid era. Speculation is he's one of the highest paid Big Ten HC. They've invested hundreds of millions in new facilities in recent years.

I don't know if the timing is ever great, but this isn't the best for him. He's lower on equity than he was five years ago.

It only takes one disgruntled former player/transfer that felt like he got screwed to ruin it for everyone.

And honestly, at risk of sounding like a douchebag and a “guys being dudes” apologist, I don’t even think the “turn the lights off and dry hump the guy that screwed up” thing is something you fire a coach over. That’s immature college athletes fucking with each other.

The problem is where you start forcing freshmen to take their clothes off. Naked bear crawl, naked slingshot, naked QB/C exchange… that is actual sexual assault/misconduct. Forcing someone to totally expose themselves while forcing them into vulnerable positions? That shit is gross.

For, what, three years? And no coaches saw it? Sure.

Ohio State, Baylor, Michigan State, Miami. We could go on and on. Northwestern tried to bury this. The more that comes out, the more you have to believe that Fitzgerald knew and encouraged this.

While also not trying to be that guy, this all started somewhere. Dry humping teammates in a closet may seem like just immature dudes messing around, but I guarantee you nobody one day dreamed up forcing naked QB exchanges. It starts small and ir grows when people become comfortable with the unacceptable. That's why you can't pass off things as just immaturity. If they are immature enough to do it, they are also immature enough to not know when to stop.
