Honest question, you think anyone from our 2023 class on the dline becomes a big contributor? I'm not asking for this year, i'm asking ever at ND. There's some potential with 1-2 of them but all have very low floors IMO.
I think Traore is being extremely overlooked, personally. He's raw and didn't play a ton of actual high school football, so he'll need a little time. But his brother started at LSU and is now hanging around the NFL. Similar build as Foskey at that age, huge wingspan, aggressive. Built for Vyper or he could bulk up and move inside.

Wouldn't sleep on Vernon either. I know he fell in the ratings but I'm not sure why.

Vernon admittedly didn't focus on football his last 2 years due to off field issues, gained a lot of bad weight. Has lost most of the bad weight.

where the heck did this defensive class go so sideways? Reports were nd would have their pick or safeties - clearly not true. They hosted multiple linebackers/d-linemen in the spring and Loy put out his ridiculous 8 crystal balls or whatever. Few of those are committed here. We have two lower ranked cornerbacks. Is this staff not connecting with recruits? I thought Marcus would crush defensive recruiting for us

We had a bad year last year.

Also, it's Notre Dame. It's no fun.

This Defensive class is as bad as I can remember in awhile
I don't think we'll sign another defensive player in this class. Maybe Davis Andrews but he'll be taking a 2 year mission and could very be Chris Badger'd in 2026-2027.

Poor dude, can't remember back 2-3 years.

2020:

DL: Jordan Botelho, Rylie Mills, Aidan Keanaaina, Alex Ehrensberger
LB: Hollada Nobaddie
CB: Clarence Lewis, Caleb Offord
S: Ramon Henderson

That class was not only low on key contributors, but low on bodies in general. Zero LBs taken. ZERO.

3 defensive backs, all of which were not composite top 500, and really outside of Henderson, none of them were really fluid athletes.

Sorry, but even if we land nobody else, this defensive class is still better than 2020.

I'd say it's better than '21 as well.

How'd his career go? Not a big loss

Obviously, it sucks that we miss on some of these kids. But as much as the portal has/can hurt us it can also help us. Is it possible that the staff would rather push for high upside players that are being overlooked and want to be at ND, then target the portal to fill the gaps?

Personally this is how it feels to me, and I also see it as ND not willing to play games with unproven drama queens. I’d say of them all (recently), Keeley stings considerably more than the rest. Who knows if this is their actual strategy, and if it is, if it will actually work. Time will tell, so there’s really no need in getting all worked up about it.

It's close...... Botelho and Mills in my opinion are better than any prospect we've landed this year. I'm not saying because I expect them to have really good years, they were 2 commits we had to beat some big boys to land.

Similar to Bruntae, i think everyone knew Safety was the spot for watts in that class, it just took watts too long accepting it.

I'll give ya the 2020 class, but not the 2021, we landed some big recruits in that with a few just not panning out. We're not beating anyone of importance for our defensive class.

Freeman emphasized how recruiting was important. Golden and Washington aren't holding up the defensive recruiting. Thank God we have Mickens.
