Young fella passed on ND for a chance at a couple free vacays. Best of luck.
Stupid decision if you ask me. You don't stop pursuing a kid unless you got the safety spots all locked down, Urlacher isn't a future safety as it sits we will most likely land Tae, but Tae isn't a gurantee what happens if he struggles with his class work senior year? Hillman all over? Andrews won't be here until 2026. We need 3-4 safeties in this class.ISD now saying ND won't pursue Mencke any further. Seems like the ship has sailed.

Okay but what about his vacation to scenic Seattle?Fong and Loy with the CB to Duke.
ZiglarIf we lose out on Mencke and Tae pops soon, I really hope they don't push for Miles. Since I highly doubt that Urlacher will be a Safety at ND and Tae will be transitioning to Safety full-time, I'd rather the 3rd Safety spot go to someone who has mainly played Safety in HS and projects as a Safety in college. ISD folks were saying that Miles would need a lot of work at Safety.

Me as well. Completley understand why opinions differ. To each their own.I was actually trying to reply to IAIrish, but quoted the wrong post. Totally get your perspective on it, though.
Unless I'm missing something, I don't think the next S after Tae would shutdown the position so I think this is a moot point. If we lose out on Mencke and Tae pops soon, I really hope they don't push for Miles. I'm not asking anyone to justify anything, to be clear. I'm simply stating that I think it's garbage and the situation present day is even worse than ever.
I used to be into it about as much as anybody several years ago. Over the years I've come to consume it with indifference.
To a Notre Dame message board, it makes no sense. To the rest of the world, it's a problem most people would really have no problem having.Imagine turning down Notre Dame so you can go visit Duke. Recruiting is weird.
Someone hasn’t seen the Peyton Bowen thread!Committed to Duke Safety recruiting is looking awfully bad again.

You are surprised by this? Not great, Clark.

Duke lands commitment from Four-Star Safety Paul Mencke Jr
Mencke chose the Blue Devils over double digit Power Five offers247sports.com
No, not surprised. Seems fair at this point to question Freeman's decision, knowing we have the benefit of hindsight. You are surprised by this?
He committed to ND on his visit.
Then on Sunday told the staff he was still taking his scheduled visits.
The staff told him they couldn’t accept his commitment if he was still taking OV’s.
They gave him a timeline to decide or they were moving on. He kept his visits, they moved on.
They could have still got him if they pushed, but they chose not to.
That’s a Freeman decision.

They moved on to Miles, Ziglar, and Davis (mission)Moving on to who though?Lol.
That all sounds good and fine, but they “moved on” from him to literally no one.
“We can’t accept your commitment if you still want to visit other schools. If you still want to commit after your visits, we’ll be happy to have you” sounds much more logical
Don’t tell us, write Marcus Freeman a sternly worded letter.Moving on to who though?Lol.

Sounds aces, whose gonna come in as corners in this class then? Not directed at you Reaper its just a frustration at not just the culling the board too soon but also the fact that many of us think they needed 4-5 actual safeties (played safety before) and staff doesn’t and also think Urlacher if anything is a rover to linebacker type.Don’t tell us, write Marcus Freeman a sternly worded letter.
It’s his call.
Also, I wasn’t sure how flexible the corners are to playing Safety, but IB mentioned earlier today that Hobbs, Moore & Beasley (if they flip him), could all play Safety at ND.
I’m thinking ND is looking at they only need 2 Corners after the past two successful classes.Sounds aces, whose gonna come in as corners in this class then?
