Rough thing about it is that Omar verballing may have cost us Forston. Now, we may have neither.

I dont like the fact he is visiting because when they visit that is never a good thing. But lets just wait and see what happens.

I hope this helps.

I don't know Knight, the way people are freaking out about this whole situation it could be sooner especially if Omar were to actually speak to someone. I'm gonna put my guess on Jan 4, 2008.

Im gonna say December 22, 2007.

I never really got the impression that Forston would have ever come to ND, but honestly I don't want people like that on ND's team.

I think Jan 4 is a big date. I dont think he would go to the AA game, room with Cave, talk all about ND if he knew he wasnt going. Just an opinion of mine.

For all of you people who are loseing it over Omartaking visits to other schools and saying he is the most important recruit and all the other stuff being spewed out of your mouths. Take a few minutes before you post anythingabout any thread and go over and click on the thread A Fallen Irish Fan, and then come back and tell us how important one person is.

Well that does make me feel a lot better about it.

The lack of offering someone else or any apparent increase in interest in another NT makes me think that the staff is still confident about him.

One thing to keep in mind, if he's on the edge and finds out about the ND fan base going bonkers over this, and some of the comments are borderline or beyond the line of rude and mean spirited, that could be a factor in his decision.

Discussing it to the point of obscene is probably not a positive reason for him to stay. I'm not saying we have that much sway, but those of you who've been here a while know recruits or their families spy the boards. And in the past, we've had a few use poor treatment by the fan base as a factor in their decision.

I see that Pete Sampson has some sort of article on Irish Illustrated, but I do not get the premium service so I cannot elaborate. Guess we will just have to let the chips fall. Good Luck Omar!!! We hope to see you in South Bend. Remember that the ND education is a great things and your path to the NFL is just as viable at ND as UF. Remember what Aaron Taylor said at the banquet to everyone. "You are NON-athlete much longer than you are an athlete and the ND education and family has helped him be successful beyond those days of being an athlete." I am sure this will all work out. Remember guys that we have 21 other fantastic athletes and new ND family members who will be coming in next season and they will continue the IRISH legend. Go Irish!!

I hate logging on here and seeing Hunter's profile at the top of the unread posts.....it makes me fear the worst. That said, I'd love to have him play at ND, but life will go on if he doesn't.
All we can do is wait and see what happens.

Junkhead,
well said. We will all celebrate the recruits who decide to become part of the ND family. We Omar is one of them, but if he decides to go another direction, we will still have an unbelievable class of great young men. Go Irish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SoCalDomer,
Once again you hit the nail on the head! Come on guys...relax. I am just like the rest of you in not wanting to lose Omar and needing reassured that everything is going to be OK. Even if this ends up being "bad news", we must not forget we are fans of the University of Notre Dame and what it stands for. All of us need to remember this and act accordingly.

Great post Jonesman, for the time being, we fans really need to relax, get a beer, or whatever in the hell calms your nerves. If, and if, Omar decides to commit to another school, I, like the rest of you will be displeased, but this is a huge decision for the young man. Urbie the snake is just doing his job. Not to mention, we plucked a few kids at the last minute last year, of which one turned out to be a starter by season's end. Until we hear something from Omar on what his intentions really are, please give this thread a rest until further notice. Getting worked up over what an 18 year old HS kid is doing is, well, kind of pathetic, IMHO. We have Christmas in less than a week, there are much bigger issues to worry about, and an important birthday to celebrate. Let's give the young man a much needed break from fans for the holiday, and we should concentrate on our own families. If he ends up somewhere else, so be it, we have a super group of kids already in the fold. One man, a class does not make. It won't be the first time, nor will it ever be the last, if he decides to commit elswhere.

Merry Christmas, and happy holidays to all.

Looks like USC is in the mix as well:

Buford defensive tackle Omar Hunter is having second thoughts about his commitment to Notre Dame, his coach said Wednesday.

Coach Jess Simpson said Hunter has not withdrawn his commitment to the Irish - yet. But he is giving strong consideration to both Florida and Southern California - with Florida being the more likely alternative to Notre Dame, Simpson said.

"I think he wants to take the holidays and reconsider things," Simpson said, "and possibly take a visit to Florida and [USC]."

...

There has never been a shortage of interest in Hunter, who is rated the second-best high school defensive tackle in the country by Scout.com. The 6-foot-1, 311-pound senior committed to Notre Dame in June, but has apparently become less certain in recent months.

Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis tried to firm up Hunter's commitment last week with a personal visit to Buford. And later in the week, USC coach Pete Carroll also showed up, urging Hunter to take another trip out west.

Hunter, who could not be reached for comment, did not have any visits planned as of Wednesday. He visited Florida and USC before committing to the Irish, and has enough time to see both schools again if he wants before signing a letter of intent in February.

"It's a good problem to have," Simpson said.

Great post, I agree with you 100%. Let him decide what's best for him, and let's hope he's being honest with the ND staff. I think that the mods out to lock this thread until we have more info on what is going on. Otherwise we wll be on here every day debating the same stuff over and over.

I agree it is his decision and only he knows what is best for him....but what has changed in the last month to make him change his mind? I know he is just one player but this kid is big STROING guy who could make a huge difference!!! I still believe he is by far the best player in this class and if we lose him no matter what the rankings say we did not fill our needs!!! We need a dominate DT...I do not see anyone currently at ND or any other recruits coming in that can fill that void!!!!! Just hoping this does not have a domino effect....

Hunter...

Hunter...

Omar is going to be a beast, but more importantly, we need him to want to be at Notre Dame whether he signs or not. If he has doubts, he will not live up to potential. When practice gets tough, if he doubts where he is at, he probably won't suck it up and get better. I would rather have him fully bought in on where he wants to be. I hope it is Notre Dame, it would be great for him....but if not, I wish him all the luck in the world. (Un less we play florida in a bowl game then I would wish syphilis)
Just kidding....
I would wish him a 1 game stent with that disease that makes one foot way bigger than the other one. I know that is a congenital birth defect, but come on..... HE WILL BE IRISH!!
